Due to Hasbro's Twin Twist being very hard to come by for many Americans, going the Takara route for this toy is being considered more than usual so hopefuly this review helps you choose which version to get.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:Topspin and Twintwist are made from arguably the best mold from the Titans Return/Legends line. The Legends version give a more classic paint scheme while adding the bonus of Targetmasters. While there's nothing overly new to recommend the Takara version over the Hasbro releases if you like what you see they're a solid pick up.

Hasbro does not auto distribute their products. The store order the product themselves. Stop blaming Hasbro because your areas don’t order stuff.

How come Malaysia got like a zillion TR (Walgreens exclusive(?) supposedly)Brainstorm? Yet it was like a beetch to find them in stores if at all?
The situation may be different in the mainland USA but in other countries, case lots have a certain number of specific figures per box. I saw these HB boxes being opened post delivery to specialty shops and mainline stores like TRU ( heck back in 2002, during RID, there wasn't a single FireConvoy in site in all 3 TRUs in Singapore (only Megs) so there is some issues with Hb's distribution system whether you like it or not.
Even with regards to specialty shops (not online), it was like a pain for them to order TFA Arcee for them, who order direct from Hasbro. They were ordering a specific item and still could not get her.
Hence, I get my plastic crack from online Amiami etc.

True, but they can only order what Hasbro has available to ship and it's a well known fact that TR Deluxe wave 5 and some parts of the TLK and RID lines are practically non-existant in most/all of the US at B&M retail and exceedingly scarce online with major retailers like TRU and even Hasbro's own HTS not even stocking them. Some things really are Hasbro's fault as they're readily available in ample numbers in other parts of the world including Canada.

Miraculous how visually distinct these 3 are despite only minor retoolings between each. Fun fact, greatshot's newly tooled fold-away horns make him the only one who can't achieve all of his modes without removing the headmaster.

Mine came from Kapow toys, he arrived d way faster than i expected too, so i wouldn't be surprised if he takes a while yet

Thanks for the tip of the hat. It did take like an hour to get all 3 in all 6 modes

Greatshot and Brave Maximus were offered as pre-orders at both TFSource and BBTS. They'll be fulfilled, but it sometimes takes a while on TakaraTomy Mall exclusive items to finally come in stock overseas. We just have to be patient.

Best wishes to your son, you, and your family. At least Transformers can be a small comfort during a very scary time.

I know the words of a stranger don't mean much but I'm sorry to hear that your son isn't well. I hope he makes a full recovery and your family is whole again. I'd you ever need someone to vent to, just pm me

ZeroWolf wrote:Nice but what was the price like compared to other online outlets?
For somebody like me who lives in EU (so oversea shipping costs) : The same if not less.
On bbts it would have cost me 120$ with shipping.
On tfsource, 134$
On ebay it did cost me 115$
There's a lowcost shipping on bbts, which would have cost me 'only' 105$, but it's 4 weeks delivery minimum. (added to the fact it's not even in stock yet)
Yes collecting in EU is expensive as fuck.
The 'good' point is, with all this shipping stuff, getting takara version of toys is not necessary more expensive than getting the hasbro's one.

Alpha Weltall wrote:Finally got my box from AmiAmi today with a bunch of things including the Jumpstarters. I know I'm a little late to the party and I tried to look back through the thread to see if anyone else if having the same problem I am but I didn't find anything. So I opened Seaspray and he was fine as was Darth Vader and Twin Twist. Then I got to Topspin and while he's fine, his Targetmaster isn't. He has two right lower legs. So when I transform him into gun mode, the left leg (now located behind the robot's right shoulder) doesn't peg in properly. I think one of my other Targetmasters have a similar problem but since I'm in the middle of moving, I have them all packed away already. I figured I mention the problem here to see if anyone else if having the opposite problem and would like to switch legs. I had a Magnus Prime with two right hands and found the person with one with two left hands so maybe I'll have some luck with this too. It's not a big deal this time but it is still annoying when I transform him.
My Topspin's Targetmaster partner was fine, but Topspin himself came with two left feet! I already sent it back to TFSource for a replacement. Now I'm hoping that the new one I get doesn't come with a messed up Targetmaster! If Peacemaker ends up having two left lower legs, though, I guess you'll be in luck.

They have, but I'm not sure if they usually have this kind of delay.

Yes, both TFSource and BBTS have offered these kinds of exclusives before. They even usually carry a limited stock of Japanese convention exclusives too. Both online retailers had Brave Maximus and Greatshot up for preorder months ago when they were first solicited by Takara Tomy Mall. Sometimes, it just takes a while for Japanese exclusives to come in stock in the U.S. I waited for a couple months to get the rereleases of Blurr and Scourge for Transformers Legends. Mine finally came in stock in the beginning of February while other TFSource customers got theirs at the end of December, when they were actually released. Even now, TFsource is showing those figures as unavailable until more stock arrives later this month. I have a feeling we're just going to have to be patient for Brave Max and Greatshot. I'm sure some fans will get theirs soon, and the rest of us will just have to wait our turns.

Fyi, while the original mold allowed you to keep the headmaster attached to the connecting port+helmet during vehicle mod, Greatshot's "horns" which are retractable gets in the way when folded. So in vehicle(Starfighter) mode, Jack can pilot the craft but can no longer be attached to the helmet collapsed into his chest cavity the way it was possible in Sixshot
I also noticed that Sixshot had a lot more metallic looking glossy paint jobs though it would have been a neat feature/nod if the horns were either molded white or chromed like the original toy. But perhaps, it's more to a direct Victory design.
Also, his knees also sport the extra stubs that gives it more resistance than the HB version.
This one is a winner over the fiasco that was God Fireconvoy .

Comparisons abound here too, namely with with leader Sixshot, in all six modes for both figures. Take a look, read chuck's thoughts, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub discussion thread!
Legends Greatshot is a fantastic update to the G1 figure. I really like how the colors pop, especially the gold on the chest. While I am disappointed the head has to be removed for transformation, the figure makes it very easy to overlook. Crossed fingers that we get a Shadow Maru down the line?

No more room for autobots at the mo until I get another book case or resign more to storage. Had to get the Legends version of Twintwist with the Hasbro one being in short supply. Probably going to be the same with Misfire in the end. Doubt I'll get around to chasing up the other legends I'm missing before the Street fighter versions arrive.

I'd love to see pics of it. Of course I know Metroplex has no connective plates like all the others do, but it would still be fun to include him.
That sounds amazing, I hope someone tries it with the new lg-ex releases! Out of curiosity, are you including all three Ginrais/Magnus Primes in the layout?

Aside from Grand (RKs shipping rates are a bit ouchy, wished it was a mass release via Amiami), I got all of them. Issue now is space and how to fit it all in City shot

Nope, Greatshots right leg is about the same as my hasbro six shot with the left leg being a lot stiffer. Maybe my hasbro six shot was pure luck tho because my hasbro quickswitch is a floppy mess.

The ratchet swivel joint above the right elbow is so loose that it can't carry the weight of the sword, while the left one is fine. I suspect PE's PC-14X would be too heavy for him too...
Welp, time to grab a screwdriver and pad that joint...
