Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg1999 has done a review of Transformers Titans Return Seaspray. Here is what he has to say about the figure:

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Seaspray is an awesome Legends Class figure. The style is very close to the classic G1 character, with updates in the right spots. I can't recommend this figure enough.

Update:

I can't believe the little panel to hide the face. It's ridiculous.

Probably one of the best Cosmos figures to date even if it is almost exactly like the Generations one. I still wish he were as pleasingly plump as he is in the G1 cartoon. Ahh well. At least they got the Sharkticon's chub right.

Got me missing my 2010 voyager Seaspray. I have Breachers and no Seaspray. Had the G1 mini-toy too but always thought it was kinda boring. This legends figure looks a good update for fans of it though.

Hence the whole debate (I inadvertently launched).

If you snap the little tabs like me :

You can fold everything correctly, 100% aligned:

I'm glad you're happy, but the whole point of them not being lined up is to prevent the parts sticking out from colliding. The way you have it the wings can't lay flat together and everything is bowed out which would bug me a lot more.

But if I find this one he'll easily do for now~

I like collecting G1 minibots toys in scale. Have CW Huffer and Warpath. Brawn, Seaspray, and the new rerelease of Cosmos are definite wants. ;)^

Also, kinda hoping I can snag a classic legends Bee in that smaller legion sort of scale to go with em rather than the disappointing TR Bee. :-?

Whatever the case though, so glad we're getting so many minibots! ;)^

Folks there's more to Seaspray, on the inside of each forearm is Cybertronian text that spells out Alanna, the female Alien that Seaspray was sweet on.

The one that seems to get the shaft a lot seems to be Hubcap, as the rest of his season 3 brethren (Outback/Fallback, Tailgate, Swerve and Wheelie) has gotten toys in some shape of form. I wonder if it's another trademark problem...

They were able to name a ROTF Scout Hubcap, so unless something significant happened since then I doubt that'd be it. Heck, if they really wanted to make him they could just call him Autobot Hubcap or Habcup or something.

I know! We need a modern official Hubcap! Though, he'd probably be out of that weird TR Bee mold with the weird short forearms and no weapons.

My local TRU still had them as of a couple weeks ago. Also 10,000 isn't really that limited when you think about it...I bet some standard releases don't even get produced in that quantity especially tail enders.

More likely a "little yellow car that isn't Bumblebee" problem. Maybe if the rumored Cliffjumper happens they can make Hubcap his mold mate.

Just picked up my first TR figure today, Bumblebee. His forearms are a little short and he doesn't have a gun, but giving him a gun from RTS Fallback fixed that really quickly. I really like him, though! The head articulation is definitely an improvement over the Thrilling 30 Bumblebee (which I still like).

The 2008 "Legends"/Legion scaled Bumblebee is the disappointing figure. Titans Return Bumblebee rocks your socks! Don't listen to naysayers on him. He's great.

I do hope that Warpath gets a redo, or at the very least, Takara figures out a clever way to retool the CW version and give him a cannon on his chest, even if it's a faux part. That's all it would take to make me happy with the current minibot offerings. Not even Huffer and Pipes redecoed and retooled from T30 Legends Optimus Prime really bother me all that much, though it would have been nice had they given Pipes his proper head.

I'm still holding on to Fastclash... so I can sell him and Cloudburst together for a larger sum of money ;)

(I already sold all the other figures from the set)

I think it's a wonderfully maniacal scheme

100% seconded to all points (aside from Legion Bee, as I've never actually had the mold). TR Bee is seriously fun and up there with my favorite Legends figures from this line (or in general, even). In fact, I'd honestly advocate getting him above Roadburn if you only want one of the mold - it just works so well for the li'l yellow guy!

And I would absolutely be down for a barrel-chested Legends Warpath, even if it's just a faux-turreted or partsforming remold of the CW one. Warpath is one of the few minibots I'm really fine with being a Deluxe so I'm okay for now (at least, I will be if I ever get around to actually buying the old Deluxe), but if we get all the others as Legends then it'd be nice to have him to go with them too.

You dont need a source, just logic. Of course this set is sold out from the distributor. Its an exclusive, Toysrus gets all the product and there should be none left at Hasbro. And Toysrus cant order more. Same for the entirety of every wave in Titans return until wave 5.

Leader Soundwave is sold out, so is PMOP, so is Lazerbeak, and on and on. Plus, this is a global exclusive and we only saw it in the US so far, Canada still has it in its computer. It feels like this was an early release and more will come from the warehouse in the US and globally. Oh and the 10000 makes sense, thats quite a big number and its US only, since Toysrus operates at a national level, not global. An employee (where this info is most likely from) wouldnt have access to numbers outside his country.

Brainstorm is also "sold out" and in a similar amount, so take that as you will.

There was 3 chances to get PM Prime, as for TR Soundwave he's very cheap in the UK - if you don't want the packaging he's so cheap he's work exporting.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Some of the changes to Titans Return Cosmos were actually first done by Takara-Tomy for TAV Cosmos/Adams. Takara's version of this mold also has yellow forearms and a head assembly cast in red plastic instead of white plastic. It would be interesting to see this new Hasbro version side by side with Takara's version to check the greens and yellows. I have a sneaking suspicion that the only difference between TR Cosmos and TAV Adams is down to the paint apps.

Not as good as a 3 way photo, but here's something for comparison:

Takara's version has the autobot logo on the chest, a darker overall green with a yet darker green on the top leading edge of the saucer, and has eyes instead of goggles, and of course the scan-me sticker on his right leg.

The news about the Chaos on Velocitron set really saddens me. Makes it a bit impossible to complete to the standard I was hoping to. Didn't care about Rodimus or Laser Prime (well maybe a little, but I already have the "regular" prime voyager) but Fastlane (Fastclash), Quickswitch, and Nautica were ones I really would have liked to have. Fastcla

The wasn't a single Chaos on Velocitron set available anywhere near me. Didn't even have a display area for it at the TRUs I visited (multiple times per week to check since it came up here that they were out, as I mentioned before). The nearest one that showed up in the online store finder was over 2hrs away.

I'm just curious, if it was 10k US, who in the heck bought them all? Certainly wasn't anyone around here (because they didn't show up)./

Thats the whole point, they havent all been purchased yet. It just means they have all been accounted for from the supplier. But so have a ton of other TR toys so I am not sure this is indicative yet.

Just out of interest, you couldnt buy it online when it went up?

I see. Well, keep a lookout here. If ever it shows up in canada, I would be more than glad to help a few of you out and ship em out to you. They would probably come out to $130-$150 shipped (shipping between our countries is pricey)

My local stores are always late to the party, so I will still hunt around in case they show up. But, I found that the article was from April 5th where it said it was available online, which was the exact week I was on my family vacation out of country.

If they show up in your neck of the woods, I may take you up on the offer. Feel free to PM me if you find it (though don't go out of your way for me), and we can talk through it there.

Thanks

Edit: Now I remember, it was already sold out online the same day. So there really wasn't much of a chance for me.

Tformers.com has posted photos of Titans Return Seaspray which show some Cybertronian writing on his forearms. When translated to English, these characters spell out "Alanna". For those who remember the G1 episode "Sea Change" may recall that his mermaid girlfriend was named Alanna. It looks like after all these years, he still loves her enough to have a "tattoo" of her name. We have posted images of the Cybertronian writing so you can have an up close look.

If you are a fan of Titans Return and G1 check out this article that compares Titans Return Cosmos with Generations Cosmos.

Not an axe but how about that Trident that comes with Terradive or one of his remolds since it's a long sea related weapon?

Edit: Never mind I forgot that the staff folds up and therefore can't be held properly by figures with closed fists so while Broadside can hold the bottom half and it sort of looks good it's not the best choice.

But how about deluxe RID Optimus Prime's or one of his repaints axe? It's not a long handle weapon but it does have a big blade.

I was following TRU pretty closely since I was interested in other figures popping up. I believe the option to buy it online was there for maybe a week before it was pickup in store only, then maybe another week before it was totally gone. I could be wrong, but I feel like this set isn't going to be super popular and can be had for around MSRP once scalpers realize they're not getting a good return on it. Good luck.
