It's a fine mold for what it is... hopefully this is a sort of last hurrah before a new update.

The only figures I regret missing out on were classics megs, o/p and especially grimlock, really hate myself for missing out on them

Classics voyager OP? You should be able to get him for a good price. There are something like 13+ versions of that mold.

Classics deluxe Grimlock... eh. I have the Overkill version of that mold. It's OK.

As for Classics voyager Megatron... I have a gently used copy of the United version for sale. PM if interested. But honestly the CW Leader blows it out of the water.

Naw the CW megs' shoulders are hideous, not anything I could love;

But I do have the magnus 2-pack version, but it's a little obscenely unpainted :(

Classics Megs had a decent bot mode once you removed the silly wings but the gun mode was so goofy (plus I don't like Megatron turning into a gun, much prefer a tank you can roll about on the desk or floor). CW Megatron is the G1 Megs I've always wanted, excellent tank form and imposing non-goofy robot... except he's a bit too big for my shelf. A slightly oversized Voyager would have suited me much more. Ah well I'll probably still get it at some point.

Classics Grimlock was one of the worst ones I owned. The dino mode ain't bad, except it's meant to be the big brutey Grimlock and results in a horribly skinny weak-looking Grim-bot with a bland design and awful looking legs and feet. I dismantled mine for parts a few months after I got it.

Only classics figure I still have is Optimus Prime as it was a christmas present and still a decent figure. I miss my original Classics Rodimus though. Loved him but needed funds and he sold for twice what I paid.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

I wouldnt call a mld that has a serious breakage issue to be one of the best. I hope that is fixed in this release.

I would (and did! ). Sure, one has to be thoughtful in the transformation. But I've transformed at least a dozen of these guys many times (lots of redecos and troop-building) and the only real risk comes the first time you try it, assuming you don't know about the nuances. Even my first time, I could tell that the tension was a bit weird and I stopped and looked it over, before making adjustments. As long as you're not apt to force it, then you shouldn't have any kind of problem understanding how to transform it safely.

But as to why it's a great mold:

1) It has a unique and -- when done properly -- solid transformation. Not simple, but clever and rewarding when done right.

2) It has a lot of great detailing in both forms and really pops in bot mode.

3) It has easily some of the best pose-ability seen in a non-Masterpiece figure.

4) They can RIDE EACH OTHER.

Honestly, this is one of the few molds that I enjoy so much, I don't feel any need for a Masterpiece version. (But of course I'll buy one! Err... TWO ;) )

We have new pictures of the recently revealed Platinum Planet of Junk Clash Hot Rod, showing his vehicle mode. These were found on E-Bay, by TF Fan ComradeRenko, since some factoy extras are being sold by Lena81822.

Also, we have our first preorder for this set and the price is a bit higher than aticipated. Robot Kingdom has it up for US$84.90, and they usually sell for the cheapest price to make up for the higher shipping. The preorder states that the release is aticipated o be March 2016.

To clarify things: the yellow one shown is actually PCC Mini-Con Pinpoint, the mold used by TakaraTomy to represent Firebolt. Here's the catch: technically speaking, it's Prime Firebolt, since it was released twice as an Arms Micron giveaway, part of the Japanese Prime line: in grey, and in the original translucent yellow (so one could repurpose PCC Pinpoint as Firebolt, if one's PCC Leadfoot breaks... *sob*). Later still, he was released with United Artfire with the grey and black reversed as Sparks, an alias of G1 Firebolt:

Image

In a nutshell:

Hasbro
Power Core Combiners Pinpoint (???): translucent yellow

TakaraTomy
Arms Micron Firebolt (Prime): grey
Arms Micron Firebolt Clear Yellow ver. (Prime): translucent yellow
United Sparks (G1): black

Yeah, the hinge joint for the shoulder broke on mine. I have really rotten luck with PCC figures: Skyburst's ball joints are fragile and have broken off, Searchlight's and Huffer's shoulders have cracked, and Sledge has also bitten the dust... It has gotten to the point I'm paranoid about ball joints cracking and breaking, when I saw a couple more on my other figures... :BOOM:

O well, raw material for future customs I suppose...

Yeah I have had bad luck as well the only figure that isn't a minicon or fake limb that still remains together is my Smolder I love that little mold.

Back to Wreck-Gar, the handle bars and hands are common breakage points due to design. The former, as explained before, is seemingly fixed with a mold tweek by TakaraTomy (still be careful), but the hands... Fixed open hands are seemingly fragile with any figure, look at Animated Arcee and RTS Laser Optimus Prime.

The only thing this Hot Rod release has going for him, IMO, is the return of the translucent blue plastic for his windshield and windows. Other than that, the deco is really off. No orange hood at least? I would forgive the gang-molded yellow thighs, but come on, Hasbro, you got it right once, remember? The "Challenge at Cybertron"/"Battle in Space" sets were pretty spot on. The opaque, blue painted windshield and windows were a bummer, but are hidden well enough in robot mode. I'm not sure what Hasbro was trying to go with this time.

With that awful attitude do you really believe this fandom deserves any kind of recognition whatsoever?

You couldn't tell that they are - they even confirmed somewhere that yotm primal is the only recognition they're giving BW... screw hasbro =;

I missed that announcement somehow. :BOOM:

So nice to be reminded that G1 and the Bay movies are all that matter, and anything actually worthwhile is disposable.

I suppose I was an idiot for even hoping. Won't be doing THAT again. :BANG_HEAD:

Whoa, hold on there, you may still be in luck, as TT is doing something for the 20th ann., we just don't know what it is, but MP Optimus Primal is leading off that celebration.

But I do agree with your sentiment, as that is how I've felt through a decade of generations waiting for updates to UT figures I wanted to like, but had to pass on (armada megs, super-mode o/p, tidalwave - give them proper articulation dammit - I would buy them all)

With that awful attitude do you really believe this fandom deserves any kind of recognition whatsoever?

his point is valid, a vast amount of fans grew up with something that came after G1, yet for the past decade had nothing but G1 figures shoved down our throats. Now a big anniversary comes along, and hasbro blows it off to glorify the G1 movie, yeah I'm feeling the snub and so are many others.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

I could stand for this fandom, particularly the GEEWUN portion of it, to get a little less recognition.
