All I can say is I can't wait for the day when we get a decent anime type TF show again. Because, the movie designs are just horrendous. I look at "wheeljacks" head I just started breaking out in laughter every time. What a joke.

I thought after enjoying Bumblebee they wouldn't screw it up again. Boy was I wrong.

I just realized that between the goggles and the hippy vibe, it's too bad they didn't just call him "Beachcomber". Give him a blue deco and some boards on top and it'd be a pretty neat adaptation.

I thought after enjoying Bumblebee they wouldn't screw it up again. Boy was I wrong.

From TFW:
look how they massacred my boy!

Paramount succeeded at poisoning the movie franchise.

Cheap out on alt mode licensing? Check.

Random name reuse? Check.

Ugly colors on an cliched beat up alt mode? Check.

Dumbass stereotype for robot design? Check.

Welcome to movie season, the worst time to be a TF fan. There will never be a good explanation for why Arcee looks like she does while "Wheeljack" looks like this. It isn't even consistent with his other dumbass look which is kind of funny. Of course the colors and alt mode alone told us this should have been a new character from the get go. Well it told us, but apparently it tells the folks at Paramount and Hasbro absolutely nothing because this dumbass crap is still happening.

What a total mess again. It must be the hardest thing in the Universe to make a competent TF movie if after 7 tries we are getting bird face goggle eyed rusted mystery machine "Wheeljack." I'm pretty sure I could half ass my next **** and make a better product.

At least I'm not alone in my outrage.
Oh well, I can never get excited for movies about my favorite franchise. What a shame.

How in the world do they nail the G1 designs in BB, nail every single Beast Wars design, nail Arcee, Prime, Bee...and then absolutely fumble Wheeljack who ALREADY HAD A GOOD DESIGN

Please put someone in charge of these movies who gives a **** ala Travis Knight.

The head though, It just detracts from all the positives and seems mean spirited rather than representative. We've had so many cool visor designs over the years, why do we fall back into caricature over character?

It doesn't matter if the designs are ugly as ****. These people [Paramount/Bay/Other Movie Execs] will be happy as long it doesn't look anything like existing source material.

People saying "Well, the BB Movie Wheeljack was only in it for a second," are missing the point. The whole purpose of that scene was to establish a stronger bond back to the original source material. If that wasn't considered important, then they wouldn't have done it, but they did and it is. And guess what? It's probably the most talked about part of that movie, by fans and casual movie-viewers alike.

So again, I wanna know who screamed SO LOUD to the studio execs that they decided to undo it. Who ABSOLUTELY NEEDED this?

He was in the BB movie and we saw his face. That design is canon. Plus, it's not like had to copy and paste that design. They still had some creative liberty to do something interesting with the alternative mode parts to spice things up. Instead, they took the uncreative route and made something up from nothing. And it looks like ass.

I think Lorenzo has been the Palpatine here all along…
I have little doubt he’s probably sitting there in meetings cackling like a f***ing maniac: “bwahaha put the glasses on it! Omg that’s so dumb, and funny!!11!! I love it! These dumb ass Transformers fans will eat whatever we serve them”

Wow!! That head is an unbelievably terrible looking design!
LOL That's why I had no confidence in this movie from the beginning.

Dude, Wheeljack looks terrible IMO, i think the design is great, but that head ruins it for me

Movie designs continue to be two scoops of ass, I see.

Maaaan..... the more I look at that NOT-"Wheeljack" head design, the more I absolutely hate it. What idiot decided it was a good idea to have a very human looking robot with fishlips and HUGE glasses? And then to add insult to injury, they call him Wheeljack..... because the Albert Einstein looking bot in the Michael Bay movie wasn't already offensive enough. At least they had the decency to rename him. And shoot him.

Facebook
I love Wheeljack but this design is Poop Emoji Poop Emoji Poop Emoji
They should've just called him something else

What this with want to screw it up, are those makers that stupid/ ignorant??

WTF is this crap? It looks like Erkul. SMH. Who the hell approved this? This is Skids and Mudflap all over again. I just lost my appetite for this movie.

Cool van, stupid robot. Why does he have square glasses... And robot lips? Lol

My favorite autobot ruined again

Shite! Stick to G1

Why the **** does that have glasses and duck face? Goddamnit I thought we were past the stupid Bay ****

Disgusting

I mean, at least it's not a hideous Bayformers design, but this is still pretty awful.
It's a whole new type of awful.

Horrible design , I was hoping for a better blend of Bay formers and Bumblebee design.

This is awful, just stop with the live action transformers stuff, it just doesn't work.

Hot garbage. Why did people like the Bumblebee movie?? BECAUSE the transformers resembled th g1 characters. So what do we do? Change the design to whatever the hell this is. Unreal. Erkel bot isn't cutting it.

Awful. All the other characters retained a resemblance to their Cybertronian appearance. This Wheeljack is disrespectful.

Big red flag vibes that this film is not going to be good.

Got to give it to Hollywood
Hey so let's make Optimus prime to look like he should to please the fans but **** up everything else

After creating so much good will with fans over the designs from Bumblebee.
They do this
I guess it's back to Bayformers.

And there it is, I knew things were looking too good to be true at first with this movie lol. I just knew there had to be at least 1 **** the bed design and boom 2 of them lol

Well, I adore that Wheeljack, and Nightbird as well.

My wife loves VW busses, so I hold a soft spot for them thanks to that, and even if this is unlicensed, I still like the concept. I also like the headsculpt. Wheeljack looks to be another good addition to the movie shelves I have. Movie years always bring me tons of joy.

Nightbird looks interesting, I like the door kibble, that is something new to see.

Also, Que can be a different character all, I prefer to call him Que so there is room for the Wheeljack here. And Que is a neat name and a character I actually liked too

I personally have no qualms with either design, even if Que didn't exist I still don't care if this Wheeljack is different. Maybe because I'm not a rabid Geewunner, but I just don't see what's the big deal with the design. If the portrayal sucks, that's something else entirely (we won't get a Skids/Mudflap situation, I'm sure.). I'm always open for different interpretations and if they're fun, then they're fun.

I can dislike the design of the face for being aesthetically unpleasing, I don't mind that the face doesn't look like a Wheeljack, I like everything else about the design but the face and I do pretty much like every other ROTB designs besides maybe Scourge from what little we saw (I find his design a bit underwhelming in that he looks rather kibble-less and skinny to the point of kinda generic, Battletrap looked more like a big bad to me in comparison).

Well gee, on one side we have people melting down with lengthy tirades like:

Disgusting.

And on the other side we have someone going through and diligently copying and pasting every negative comment about the toy for the sake of complaining about people complaining about the toy.

On a scale of, "I expressed my disapproval and moved on" to "No, but see I didn't have time to do the dishes because people were wrong on the internet," where do you think those two behaviors fall?

I will go to great lengths to get facts. I was reading the comments anyway and having fun, so no time wasted on my part (I mean, we are all wasting time here anyway, let's not kid ourselves). Plus, it's fun to have as a reference to a shared internet moment for all of us.

All to say, many people are indeed expressing their unfavourable opinions about this toy, and what I posted was just a sample, not every negative comment. You have dozens of pages of those negative comments on TFW. It's not, as you say, mainly people complaining about complaining.

And Deadput, I have nothing against your comment (or any comment you write), it was just a good example of someone saying why they don't like an aspect of the toy/design. It is a legit and well formulated complaint, not a complaint about complaining.

I realize I didn't talk about these toys myself. I honestly am not a fan of that Wheeljack head either. I didn't like exagerated features like we get with the heads on the twins or Que and I place this along side those (which I havent kept in my collection). As for Nightbird, I'll wait for a better coloured alt mode, most probably coming from the SS line. And hopefully the chest compresses better in the SS one, because I highly doubt it won't be more compressed in the film.

Cheers all!

I think we're missing the bigger problem here, a lot of people are wanting to see the figure repainted to represent a stoner or a hippy, but no one's looking at the fact the alt mode is one of the most reliable damn vehicles to ever be produced and has stood the test of time. Image

I agree, I like to keep them as separate characters.

Again, these bots have individual personalities so why not change his own name and look? I seem to remember having a mullet in the 80s and believed that socialism and communism was the answer to everything...now, I have no mullet (mostly, I just don't have any hair left at all) and I learned about socialism and just what happens under it and the consequences, so I've changed my mind on that. Why not allow him to change his look if he wants? After all, we're allowing people to change genders...to throw a fit about this yet advocate for gender change is hypocrisy.

(No judging here, just using gender change as an example. To quote the leader of the Neutral Planet, "I have no strong feelings one way or the other".)
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...

I'm not against Wheeljack changing his appearance, that's fine. It's just if we keep Que and Wheeljack separate, it makes easier to have him to appear, without some people saying"Thats not how Wheeljack is suppose to be!!111!"

Well, see, if he has three different designs that are all equally visually distinct from each other, then people can't actually say that any one of them is an invalid design because it's consistent for his designs to be inconsistent. ;)

For some perspective, it's not like this is the first time some people are upset over the alt mode of a beloved Autobot was changed, and I don't think it will be the last time. Remember when they turned Bumblbee into a Camaro? I recall lost of Bay hate over that decision but it quickly subsided after the first movie. Oh and it's not the only time they changed his alt mode in the Bay Movies. So I really don't understand how anyone doesn't expect it by now.
