What's up with Takara and Hasbro no longer using the number "26" on Mirage, instead using number "62"?

I asked this same thing a while back. No idea. I can only guess it has to do with trademark issues. I even googled Formula 1 #26, but couldn't find any specific car that sports that number.

william-james88 wrote:That price is a bad sign, that's the price Defensor was at due to him having to be acquired from Hong Kong and not Japan. That probably means he wont be at amiami or other japan e-tailers offering discounts.

He's a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive, so AmiAmi and HLJ won't carry them.

So Hasbro Asia probably charges more knowing they are exclusive in Japan. Hasbro Asia supplies most of BBTS's Transformers.

Railbomb wrote:Actually if they wanted to do that Ironhide would have been orange. Also, Why didn't they paint the center chest area?

william-james88 wrote:The fact that they didnt colour the chest blows hard. And yes, that fact alone has swayed me into no longer being interested in acquiring this version.

As was mentioned that's "unpaintable" plastic, so it was never going to be painted.

RiddlerJ wrote:They should've used Brawn for the Offroad redeco. He changes into a truck too, and already has the kibble behind his head. Plus no really distinctive chest details to get ruinud by the combiner peg (unlike Ironhide and his windshield chest) It also would've given us a classics Brawn that's bigger than a legends

Cloud Brawn isn't big enough for you? :)

Randy

Forgot about Cloud Brown.

Though I still think the Offroad mold would make a good (and less expensive) Brawn.

"Convoy Grand Prime" eh? Interesting name. I supposed it harkens back to United EX (Power Core Combiners) where the combined modes were designated "Prime Mode". Would that mean Convoy is in total control of the giant? Shame it doesn't use the Battle Core head, give it some more novelty compared to Grand Scourge, you know? By the by, I wouldn't worry about the hip ratchets, they should be the fixed ones.

P.S. I'll be using Optimus Maximus as his proper US counterpart as that's the full proper giant, rendering the regular Optimus Prime as an extra torso like Cyclonus.

Licensing usually only applies to names and models, not actual race car numbers. The number "26" was able to be used on all Mirage toys up to Combiner Wars, in fact Smokescreen is still sporting his signature "38" on his upcoming CW toy:

Anyway, there's still many classic combiners to come out, many that will need brand new molds. Bruticus is already announced, but there's still Predaking, King Poseidon, Computron, and some others I may not know.

Speaking of Combiner OC, why not make a DINOBOTS combiner? A Grimlock torso and 4 limbs. If Optimus can combine, so can they. And people have been asking for one since forever. We ALMOST had it with PCC.

1: If Takara or Hasbro were to redeco the aerialbots into 4 seekers (SW, TC, AS, SunStorm) with new heads (the same one), would that recieve more cheers than groans?

2: Predaking is probably being kept for a Titan Class release, since he wasnt scramble city.

3: Of course, you are referring to dinosaur molds right? because people were throwing out the idea of recolouring the stunticons in dinobot colours and I know that would have pissed me off to no end. I would rather have redeco'd dino molds with new heads than just vehicles pretending this is their "before earth" modes.

Recolored arealbots as seekers would NEVER work. It would need a new mold or some major retooling.

And yes, I want ANIMALS in my CW.

Is it possible that they could be referring to the possible complexity of getting a machine to paint the details on the concave surfaces?

Or was everyone referencing the spark-looking thing?

Also, I would buy that, slap the 'nemesis' look onto any figure, I would consider getting it 8-)

I'm unsure, though you make a good point. I just saw a conversation a page or so up about wanting it to look more like SL Grand Convoy, and folk seemed certain the grey plastic used for that part is unpaintable. I figured they meant it was the type of plastic paint can't adhere to.
All I know is, basic model paint acrylic can :-P
I can't speak of any other processes :)

"Yes, you can probably get commercially available hobbyist paints to stick to this plastic. You are not a multi-million dollar toy corporation and you are beholden to different budget constraints, not to mention your alterations do not have to hold up to the same testing and durability standards their mass-retail toys do. This fundamental disconnect is pretty much the entire driving force behind customizing."

you know, I'd just like for them to come out with some random decepticon limbs to use with some of these combiner torsos. They had the play pattern of making your own combiner but then they give you only enough guys to make a certain one. I want to make my own very decepticon version of Galvatronus to be next to Menasor, Superion, and Defensor. That's why I liked them introducing extra characters but they are not doing it enough. Two waves of '84 autobot limbs. Blah! [-(

And I'm with sabreblade, I really wished they went the energon route with Grandimus Convoy.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

It was Sabrblade who mentioned that. The unpaintable stuff.

Anyway, 1 % of me is stopping the press order now button. Despite UW Motormaster having those new ratchets, the main combiner form is so "fall down go boom!" syndrome. What more that this is like a second ptressing of the mold or hopefully the Optimus mold is more tighter than Motormaster's?

My CW Menasor despite several transform set ups I do is always arching backward. :BANG_HEAD:

A TITANT class Predaking....
YES PLEASE! :x
But it will never happen. :(

I beg to differ. I am actually certain it will happen and it not being done for CW tells me it will. Hasbro said they plan on doing one Titan Class toy a year from now on and there arent that many in the Western fiction that are well known. We already got Metroplex and Devy. Next up would probably be Fort Max, and from there all we have left is Unicron, Pimus, Omega Supreme and Predaking. So yeah, if a Predaking isnt released for CW, then we will surely see one within the next 5 years.

Don't forget Scorponok and Trypticon! :BOT:

AHA YES! Perfect, thanks for coming to my rescue, I knew there were some pretty glaring omissions.

I got you Will :BOT:

...and maybe a faithful-to-scale Titan class Astrotrain to go with the smaller figures.

I was just guessing. It was Randy who confirmed it.
