That repaint at least got Blast Off's colors right. Takara's new mold Blast Off is bright copper instead of the dark brown that Blast Off was in the cartoon. And the shuttle mode's color layout is all wrong.

The colors are for the least not perfect, they are close. I still have Blast-Off from 1986.
To me he's Quickslinger thrown in mud, I shall call him 'Mudslinger'. All they had to do was give Blast-Off a remolded head and it would have owned.

And because of Takara's obsession with show-accuracy, the robot mode proportions ended up bloated and awkward compared to how they were in the cartoon and to how the Quickslinger mold's proportions are natural-looking and not awkward. Not to mention that this is also why the front end shuttle thruster ended up behind the windshield instead of in front of it where they're supposed to be both on the G1 cartoon model and on real world shuttles.

But in the end at least Takara is trying to give you G1 accuracy.

Evidently, that's not what everyone here wants, though.

If Hasbro had made a proper Blast-Off then the comments would differ even further with "you're paying too much for a slightly better repaint."

I'm still waiting for Takara to make a proper Blast Off since the one they ended up making has so many things wrong with Blast Off's look that it's hardly accurate to any G1 version of Blast Off.

And this is all coming from someone who is still planning on getting Takara's Bruticus set instead of Hasbro's.

Tis true, it's not perfect. I would have taken a G1 transformation with better articulation.
But I will not except a just plain old lazy repaint of Quickslinger. At least if Hasbro remolded the head for goodness sake then we would have a different argument. But if you're not in the market to buy the Takara version, why should we care or here complaints. I'm still buying it because it's a complete package. I'm really interested in Vortex and if they will fix the QC issue with Brawl's midsection.

Again, NOBODY has brought up hasbro's blast-off as evidence or otherwise for their use in an argument, just you; maybe you should stop generalizing on behalf of other people

That is why I said if they made him with a simplistic G1 Transformation and gave him articulation I would have been cool with that. Even Fansproject did that with their Blast-Off add-on and it was good.

However I had to make a decision, and I'm gonna buy it. I still won't buy the Hasbro Blast-Off.

In the whole Hasbro vs. TakaraTomy debate, it's kinda like comparing apples and oranges. Hasbro's figures excel in overall more pleasing decos and new characters, while TakaraTomy's advantage is in new molds for the characters that were put aside and cartoon-accurate deco.

Neither viewpoint is superior to the other IMO.

i agree, also hasbro seems to be more toy accurate while takara goes with cartoon accuracy
to be honest i like both versions but will only go with takara if my wallet permits it

Unfortunately, those improvements came at a price. Double the Hasbro one, in fact, if you count all the fees.

I got my H-Devy early with free shipping and a delayed discount. For that huge price difference, I say that both are equivalent. However, if one have to pay the same $ total for any of them, Takara would be the clear winner obviously.

They may just repaint Computron, or even give him a new head or something to make him more different from Superion. Also, they managed to shoehorn in the Optimus combiner thanks to energon, but I wonder how they could do Sky Lynx and his team. that is very much difficult to do. (but then again, Galvatronus)

A new head and chest pieces is a good start. Maybe some more retooling to the limbs to make them that more distinct (not necessarily to the point of reshelling).

And as I said earlier, they may just skip Sky Reign except for Sky Lynx and build upon Hasbro's Liokaiser. I mean, if they're gonna go Computicon, why not his wavemate?

Well they never do 'wavemates' at the same time. But look at optimus maximus, and even moreso grand galvatronus; I'm sure they'll do all of them. In due time, of course

TF Yuki had quite a few things to say about the new Blastoff mold that is currently exclusive to Takara. Firstly, he showed pics of the tail fin being able to split (and rotate). He also states that they can be moved onto Blastoff's back as a bonus gimmick. Secondly, he showed the accessories this figure comes with and how they can peg onto the arms and legs. Finally, we get a confirmation that Blastoff can do the same Hulk Hands look as Rook and Roller.

I already own at least two of each of every mold-type found in this set, but that gorgeous Takara packaging alone makes this a tempting set. Their presentation of their own upgraded TF figures makes even these slight re-decos very, very, appealing. That's a credit to simply adding a little paint in a more G1-accurate lay-out, and enclosing them in a beautiful box. Well done Takara, for making Transformers that look better, without necessarily being better, than anything Hasbro makes.

(Hasbro's little sister Takara just knows how to show off a lot better.)
