I know a lot of people are sick of the mold, But I still like AB. He is part of my Superion and shall remain so, and He does have a good bio. Shows us all kinds of stuff that he really hasn't gotten in fiction yet

I'm sick of him not being remolded, especially as all of the parts in question are obtusely easy to remold as they play no integral part of the figures alt mode, and are not complicated parts in the slightest (the lower arms, tail, rotors, and cockpit shells)

True yes, and something I am glad they are doing with Victorion, but I still really like him

Yeah, I love him too (insofar as his combiner port will let me), I'm just sick of a/b clones (especially since he's an exact clone of vortex )

Yeah, Vortex is a bummer since they are straight repaints, I'll give you that

On the flip side, while Vortex is the same moldwise, I love the color scheme they're going with for him. I was concerned they wouldn't have it in them to make a mostly grey and turquoise bot and just do what they did with the FOC one.

Yeah, but having experienced the same damn thing twice, it won't be that great when I get it. And that to me is the entire problem of this line.

Yeah, for some reason, all the a/b clones I (and many others that I've seen) have the detent gear miss molded, so the port (when used as a joint) is ~.5 degrees off from all the others that I have. So when used as a knee, he will always be unbalanced (he cannot even stand properly because of this) so it's hard for me to like him, when him, blades, and vortex suffer from this problem (mine, many reviewers', and even the galleries here have shown this)

Mold fatigue, yes, but considering I have these guys combined so much, and considering that the helicoptor limb has been 3 different limb locations, I can deal with it.

It does not. Unless you count taking off in robot mode with jets in the feet and transforming midair. But Alpha Bravo still is the only Vehicle mode aerialbot capable of VTOL

(There was also a scene in True Lies of a Harrier taking off. This, along with the A10 Warthog (Thunderbolt II) are among my favorite military aircraft.)


Though, not to run afoul of Va'al, AB is still superior.

I don't think you're the only one. The official bio seems to forget that Slingshot was based off of a Harrier. And since Firefly is now sharing a mold with Slingshot, and both look sort of like a Harrier...yeah, I don't think anyone could be blamed for forgetting this bit. Well, maybe Hasbro since we love to hammer them. And maybe they didn't count Slingshot as he was the bot AB was replacing....

Yeah, my head hurts now.

Interesting fact, if anyone cares. G1 Slingshot had venting on the back of his hands that were supposed to emulate the vents on the side of the Harrier.

Sorry for the double post, you posted as I was posting. Are you talking about the Harrier? There are two pivoting exhaust ports on either side of the jet. There is no single thruster along the center. Check out the video a couple posts up.

Sorry for the double post, you posted as I was posting. Are you talking about the Harrier? There are two pivoting exhaust ports on either side of the jet. There is no single thruster along the center. Check out the video a couple posts up.

Well, I knew one kind does use that; but yeah, they could've easily molded some vents onto the side of slingshot/fireflys arms

Well then I am glad to have you around since I have a question. Is it wrong to see the F-117 Nighthawk as a jet as well? I am talking about categorizing generally.

I think the F-117 should have been classified as a Bomber, or B-117, instead as a Fighter. Is that what you are asking, WJ? It does fly with a jet engine, but there are so many things weird about its flight abilities that we could spend an afternoon just talking about that. The stealth nature is what makes the flight surfaces all flat. The jet exhaust is run through some surfaces and mesh to help eliminate the heat signature and foil heat seeking missiles. I've heard the thing would be impossible to fly if it were not for the micro-corrections made by the flight computers. (This was made possible by equipment that allowed the forward swept wing prototype X-29 fly without crashing.)

I was really stoked when Soundwave was made into a F-117-esque plane. I think it would be awesome to see him in that configuration again, but as a limb in Combiner Wars. #ShamelessAttemptToStayOnTopic

[Edit] Oh, the reason I thought it should have been classified as a bomber had to do with its mission planning. It was never really meant to engage in air-to-air combat, though I would imagine it could carry long range air-to-air missiles, like the Phoenix. Otherwise, its mission profiles had it mostly dropping smart bombs. Maybe a cruse missile, though I really don't remember that actually happening outside of perhaps a movie reference.... Lots of stuff is still classified, so who knows.

But yeah, I believe it was predominantly a bomber used to soften up enemy positions; so yes, it should have been classified as a bomber (does it even have the acrobatic capabilities of fighters )

Well the f-117 is actually larger than fighter jets aren't they? And mindwipe is some sort of perverse uber bomber/jet hybrid (that is also alien) so I don't know if you can quantify it by earthly standards
