They are standard retail, unless you are trying to compare them to a standard PotPie deluxe release from last year, which would have been a couple bucks lower.

There is no sense in that, the standard deluxe price point has changed to match that of movie lines. I dont understsnd wjy osupreme, or anyone, would expect more than retail quality on these retail priced toys. These are exclusive, but by no means premium.

I didn't order Red Swoop, but I received Ricochet today, and he doesn't feel loose or flimsy to me. The only place I'd ding QC is the gold paint on his face and lower torso. It's applied quite thick...the sculpt of his mouth is barely visible.

As long as the clear plastic used for the car's hood and roof doesn't crack, I'm happy.

People are only paying more for these two because they're buying them from places that charge more for figures in general, not because Hasbro charged more. BBTS, TFSource, and the like are charging $22 for the two, but that's what they charge for retail Deluxe figures, too. As far as I know only Entertainment Earth sells these at MSRP.

And yeah, I got my TFSource pre-order notification as well, just waiting for the invoice.

Because in my mind, if something is exclusive, it should be premium (i.e TR Arcee, Grotusque etc...). If Hasbro is going to half-ass something, there's no reason why it shouldn't have been released as part of the standard PotP line if there's nothing special (or "SECLECT") if you will, about them.

Maybe I just got bad product... But it will make me think twice about getting anything further in the not-so-selects line moving forward.

I'm glad to have them I guess, but one of my combiners will always have a super floppy arm, and leg that can barely hold its own, as long as you don't touch it while being *fiddly* propped up...

Which joints are loose exactly, and what type?

My Ricochet is decent enough. It might be easier to explain which joints are tight on my Swoop.

...

Um...

Still looking....

Okay, the head joint nestling into the chest is somewhat tight. The wing end hinge (that allows the wing to extend out wider) is also fairly tight. Every other joint I touch seems really floppy, particularly the hips, thigh swivel, knees... My Swoop won't stand in robot mode. I haven't yet transformed him to see if he is better in dino mode. I'll display him against the back of the shelf.

You should really stop thinking that way because its both wrong and will always dissapoint you. These exclusives exist to give fans more product without relying on standard retailers who already have enough of the line to order. And thats it. As someone who was hoping to complete your combiner teams, I thought you would understand, especially since you saw the benefits of shorter lines. It's basically the same as POTP Wreckgar, TLK Hot Rod, BH Skylynx, SS Thundercraker. All these toys are not more premium than any retail release, its just that they arent available at all retailers. And most fans seem very happy because it means the price tag isnt higher compared to fun pub exclusives and the like.

I would argue that TR Arcee and TR Grotesque themselves really weren't any more premium than the regular deluxe releases in TR (except for Hasbro Blurr, pretty much the whole line was more premium than poor Blurr).

will, just because you don't agree with his view doesn't make him wrong. In this subject my way of looking at it falls somewhere between both of your views, but I won't say you're wrong for it. He looks at exclusives a certain way and expects certain things with products labeled "exclusive" or "select." That's his choice. However, I do agree that more often than not he will be disappointed.

I think that the fact that pieces sold under "selects" are already considered exclusives because they can't be found at standard retail is enough for them to be distinguished, they don't need a bunch of extras. But at the same time if the figure can be improved to its best possible version, then why not? I would think that collectors wouldn't mind paying an extra few bucks to get a figure that looks more than ordinary.

Sorry if it's been mentioned Already, but thanks to Nevermore of the TFW and Allspark boards. We now have our first listing For Selects Decepticon Redwing Along with his Hasbro Product code. He was previously rumored due to a error in Combat Megatron's Product Description.

Hasbro Product code E5474.

It was probably my initial disappointment that caused me to choose my words poorly and I apologize. However...All those examples you stated above I DID see in retail stores except for TLK Hotrod, because of poor distribution. They may have been exclusive to a retailer, but I could still get them. Where else, aside form a handful of websites, can I get Ricochet or Red Swoop? And where for less than $22? Certainly not Hasbro Pulse.

The figures ARE slightly above retail price in that, the only 2 locations I can get TF toys from now are Target & Walmart. Deluxes for SS & Generations are currently around the $20 mark, Selects online everywhere that I saw were $22 (again I'm not talking MSRP, I'm talking what they really cost), so roughly 10% more than the average figure, thus denoting some sort of limiter that makes them "Special", however you chose to determine that.

Now in reality, did I expect Ricochet & Red Swoop to be vastly superior to PotP Jazz & Swoop...NO, but at the same time, I did not (nor should anyone) expect them to be noticeably inferior.

The paint apps on both are fine, no complaints there. However When holding both Ricochet & Jazz in hand, there is a noticeable weight difference. Ricochet almost falls apart in hand, and as others have noticed, it is a real pain to get either of them to stand up on their own.

A few months ago my PotP Swoop broke (one of his Dino feet), but it wasn't a big deal. I thought long and hard about *maybe* getting a Chinese knock-off (you know the ones I'm talking about), but I refrained. Now after getting these selects, I feel exactly like that's what I got, but just paid more for them.

I mean, as a fan of combiners, I'm glad, but in times past I could at least count on :TAKARATOMY: for a better quality version of the same thing Hasbro produced. Now I cant even play that angle...

Do you have access to a sensitive enough scale to see if this is actually the case? Some pictures of the figures on a scale with the readout visible would help. I'm curious if these were actually made with lighter/less dense plastics. Going by "hand feel" to estimate and compare weight is notoriously difficult, and your perception may very well be influenced by disappointment.

Every redeco or re-release of a certain figure is a gamble when it comes to quality, no matter the venue it comes from. I've had such re-releases be looser, or tighter compared to the original, for some reason. Could be plastic tolerances (from my experience, yellow plastic is a nightmare), density, who knows?

Jazz and blue Swoop already had some issues in the shoulders in some samples, but having the first redecos be so loose they can't stand is a bit extreme. I'm definitely awaiting their weight comparisons.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I can sympathize, its happened t me in the past as well, especially when I get actual duds. It was not fun to sit on the sidelines with my decapitated $250 MP Dinobot figure while everyone was calling it toy of the year.

However...All those examples you stated above I DID see in retail stores except for TLK Hotrod, because of poor distribution. They may have been exclusive to a retailer, but I could still get them. Entertainment Earth, where they are the standard retail price of 19.99

https://www.entertainmentearth.com/s/?q ... ers+select

BBTS and tfsource have all their 2019 deluxes at 22$, exclusive or not. Like reflector here: https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/ ... ails/92542

Hence why the extra 2$ is on you and your choice of retailer and in no way indicative of the quality of the toy. By going to Amazon Japan, I got my MP Beast Wars Megatron for about $250 while people who bought the same toy at BBTS paid $300. There should be no expectation that their toy is a better quality than mine.

And if you want a better comparison to what kind of exclusive these are, then think of these as the equivalent to the may mayhem combiner bots like Slingshot and Wildrider. They werent available at brick and mortar but were standard retail toys in every other aspect, where it came to quality. Just trying to show you whats going on with this line since it seems there is some confusion over it and expectations. I dont want you further dissapointed.

Now in reality, did I expect Ricochet & Red Swoop to be vastly superior to PotP Jazz & Swoop...NO, but at the same time, I did not (nor should anyone) expect them to be noticeably inferior.

I can always agree with you there. That sucks. The good news here is you paid your 2$ extra which goes towards better customer service (or I hope) so make sure to use it and let them know that you got duds.

Because BBTS had bad gotta ship it now and your **** is in stock timing, I don't have Ricochet yet.

PotP Jazz nekked is 84g or exactly 3oz

With the combiner hand and pistol - 97g / 3.4oz

I was just thinking about this, and wishing I had the one back in my science classes. I know cooking scales (as CarrytheOne pointed out) will work, but it's just another item, like a rotating display stand, I have yet to purchase.

But I'll be excited to know, I would be truly shocked if PotP Jazz and Ricochet were the same weight, same for PotP Swoop & Red Swoop.

Yeah I guess I should have went with EA. It would have cost me $51.03 after Tax & Shipping as opposed to BBTS which cost me $51.69...

Listing Found for Transformers Generations Selects Redwing

Postby william-james88 » Wed May 01, 2019 7:14 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Do you guys like the Siege Starscream mold? Well here's hoping you do because you are gonna get quite a bit of it. Not only are we getting a Thundercracker and a Skywarp but we are also getting a Redwing, according to this listing from everest wholesale. We thank Jtprime17 for bringing it to our attention. We already had an idea he would be coming since his name was mistakenly inserted in the listing for Hero Megatron. That is why we are assuming it will be a voyager using a Siege mold and part of the Selects line. Speaking of which, the deluxes have been shipping out from various retailers and it seems that while these are exclusive items, their quality is at best around par with standard retail toys. This further adds to the idea that the Selects line is more a line to have fun decos that would not make it to standard retail and not truly indicative of a premium quality outside of that.

The Hasbro product code for Redwing is E5474.

Awesome...a new seeker well at least new to me and a new mold. I'm passing up on Starscream and company but Redwing would be a nice addition...'nuff said! :VEHI:

Ya know, I think I'm gonna pass on Thundercracker too, and just get Redwing and Skywarp. I'm glad we are getting a new seeker too, at least to the general public.

I'm a sucka for the og trio of seekers, so I'm all in for blue guy and purple guy, but if red guy looks anything like this...

Hasbro, you have my full permission to give us Sunstorm, Hotlink, Bitstream, Nacelle, Acid Storm, Nova Storm, and Ion Storm through the Generations Selects line. I will gleefully buy them all!

Been playing around with Siege Prowl and now I'm really looking forward to Smokescreen. The transformation is so satisfying and quick despite having a good amount of complexity to it. The car mode is amazingly compact with everything fitting inside. That car is also super sleek in contrast to all the greeble we've seen on most figures in the line. My one complaint is that the feet are very "Alternators" making the mold look like it's standing on its toes, would have been better if the wheels folder underneath instead, but then they wouldn't have had the G1 wheel feet look. Mine also has gummy shoulders, but they seem to be loosening up.

I can't wait to have the rest of his mold mates, even Barricade. I do hope they fix Smokescreen's numbers, but at least he got his side tampographs, unlike Prowl who could really use his side badges.

I'm glad Redwing is finally happening, now if only I could find a Starscream locally. I'll probably end up getting one off Amazon instead.

Cool seeing Redwing, hopefully Sunstorm will be done in the future. Especially as the mold is fun to Digibash
