Also, don't get me started on Unicron and Primus. They can work in planet mode but in robot mode, the implied physics can push a scientist into madness. 8-}

The fact that shuttle blast off was wanted so much it is was finally released over 2 years after the demand started, and selling well, means nobody gives a **** about vehicle mode scale.

Well, I would say it depends on the series. Like, G1 didn't give much of a crap about it in the toys though slightly more in the cartoon in some areas(Bumping the combiner limbs up to being the same siza as an average Autobot car instead of being comparatively midgets) but not others. So within the context of G1 and neo-G1 toys, people only care about the vehicle scale as far as it was set by the toys and fiction.

The movieverse on the other hand has cared about vehicle mode scale aggressively. That's why Optimus is a long-nose truck. That's why Starscream is both bow-legged and digitigrade. That's why Grindor's so tall. That's why Devastator is made from 9 Constructicons some of which are particularly huge.

Isn't that just on screen though? I don't blame hasbro sticking to robot mode scale only (though I'm not convinced that devastator will be in scale at all...) as that seems far easier to do and fir into their pricing structures.

That Bonecrusher is kind of depressing. He's out of scale (should be roughly the same height as Brawl, and he's clearly shorter here) and he has no accessories, so you're just getting an undersized voyager and nothing else. Really bums me out, as he's the one I was most looking forward to. With the mass shrinkage of movie transformers, I'm not sure he's going to be much taller than the deluxe :( .

As long as he's in scale with studio series Prime then I'm happy. He always seemed to be more squat anyhow.

Never,but since in the movie is heavily implied Megatron retains the same size with each body,I would like to see that in toy form,especially in the Studio series,thats so focused on Robot mode scale.

Optimus is a long nose truck instead of his traditional cabover style truck because it allowed them to make a bigger bot that could tower over the Autobots and stand up to the Decepticons better. It wasn't because they actually wanted a bigger truck.

That was my point, though. They made him a 32' long-nose truck to enable that instead of having him magically grow from a cabover to that size (which is why Evasion-mode Optimus bugs me). They made Starscream bow-legged and digitigrade to reduce his height to be more on par with Optimus' while keeping his size consistent (or at least apparently consistent) with his 62' jet mode.

Even with the real world measurements I posted? Those helis are pretty accurate in scale with each other given the size classes and such.

DMSL wrote:The sculpts are great, but the studio series scale is WAAAAY off. No way is it okay that an SUV or a car like Ratchet is the same size as a sedan. Those cars should have all been voyager class and figures like Megs, Prime, Starscream etc should have been leaders. Blackout should have been way bigger than that.

God no. I'm extremely happy with Prime and Megs being voyagers, thanks. No way I could even remotely afford this series if they were all leaders and blackout being bigger and such. And how big would Devastator have to be then? Scale for the most part is fine. A lot truer to each other than many other TF lines movie or non-movie. Some acceptable changes had to be made but overall it's pretty good.

Really loving that new chest. Hm they haven't moved his middle wheels up to meet the higher ones. I know they've removed the joint that folds those thin curved panels over too but the wheels are still shown to raise up in other photos and of course you got the higher wheels now tucking in cleaner than on the previous figure.
Also fold those forearm panels over properly, silly figure poser! :P

Also wish they'd up Prime's paint budget a bit. He's lacked his robot mode flames in Studio, TLK and AoE voyager figures. Hopefully Toyhax will modify their current SS Prime sticker sheet (in shape and also colour to match the brighter tones) to fit on the new figure at least. But hey at least he doesn't have that big obnoxious black joint right in the middle of his chest breaking his window frame lines that annoyed so many people on the first SS. :)

Megs is looking better than I thought. Not feeling the soft goods shroud however. Seems just a bit cheap.

But still, makes me want to get Megs.

Also I want Cog and Sideswipe.

New Official Images of Transformers Studio Series Movie 1 Optimus Prime and Bonecrusher

Postby william-james88 » Mon Dec 03, 2018 11:46 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Thanks to TF Factory on Weibo, we have new stock images for Transformers Studio Series Optimus Prime (ver 2) and Bonecrusher. Both of these are voyagers that will retail for $29.99 USD in January 2019. Optimus can combine with the upcoming leader Jetfire (the previous release cannot). We see the backgrounds they come with and it is both the same image of a highway, reminding us where the fight between Bonecrsher and Optimus took place in the first live action film from 2007. This Optimus serves a double purpose then of being both Optimus from the first film and from the second one where he combines with jetfire, ultimately making the previous release entirely obsolete (aside from some nice swords). That makes sense, of course, since Optimus Prime did not change any detail of his robot mode between both those films.

But still, makes me want to get Megs.

Also I want Cog and Sideswipe.

Why does having a piece that should be made of fabric, be made of fabric, feel cheap? Vinyl doesn't shift and drape and fall like actual cloth does.
WANT:
* Cybertron Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Cyb Jetfire R gun and missile

Di Bonaventura is not a credible or trustworthy source. And most fans do like the diversity push, thanks.

Because it looks wrong, it doesn't drape correctly even though it is cloth. It's not even remotely close to what the onscreen shroud looked like. Very Soft vinyl, or another kind of fabric that is less stiff may have looked better and correctly draped on him. Also, it looks too clean.

The material used is what looks cheap.
