That's the reality of the toy market. Heroes sell better.

No Decepticon is more worthy of a leader figure than Megatron, and he's still on shelves almost a year later.

By contrast, let me know how many Ultra Magnuses you find. (Ultra Magni? :???: )

Where? Only time I've ever seen him for sale was in Forbidden Planet in Cambridge. Toys R Us in Cambridge never stocked either version of Megatron. Been wanting the G1 figure for ages but the eBay/Amazon prices are silly. I've seen Ultra Magnus enough but I don't care for that at all (stupid mimimus whatevers)

Definitely gonna get me Prime. Any flaws I feel it has from pics are outweighed by the positives and it really just being the best and most intimidating looking G1 Prime for a long time.

I do find the decapitation pictures on the boxes a little creepy though.

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

Correction, Armada Megatron is still on shelves, IDW Megatron is not. It was a really bad idea to release a retool of the same figure in the same wave, just different colors and different head. I've only seen Megs, Armada Megs, Thundercracker, and Skywarp in the wild, never Magnus or Screamer.

Yeah. Sorry I meant IDW G1 one I guess (though I'd never use the Autobot insignia) and yes definitely not the Armada. And yeah it's frustrating. We get batches of some things but then not others or some we get several years later after the US folks have moved on to new stuff. They've been ok releasing most CW figures surprisingly even in Toys R Us (but again that's not really my thing) so at least there's something among all the one step changers and non-transformable Titan figures.

I was talking about IDW Megatron, but you're right: the IDW Megs I see hanging around are singles and pairs at the most, while Armada Megatrons form stacks.

I have seen Magnus (which I bought) and Screamer (which I didn't), but they didn't last long at all. (Just long enough to prove that the stores didn't skip his wave entirely.)

I regret not getting g1 megs when I had the chance, he would of stood proudly with his autobot symbol on (I feel that idw megs is the greatest megs next to beast wars megs) now all my tru has is armada megs (my original armada megs is fine and dandy) and ultra magnus.

Man...

I don't want a Prime who is a retool of Ultra Magnus. I don't want my Prime to match my Magnus. and frankly, I really like the way CW Prime looks with most of the recent Generations and Prime figures. But every photo I see makes me want him just a little bit more, and that CW Cabover mold is getting a little crowded with Nova and Motormaster. Choices choices...

As to Blaster, its a cool figure, but I am not attched to the Boombox alt.

Hmm...I've always attributed Leader class Megatron's shelf-warming to just being an undesirable figure (Armada anyway). H3ll I passed on both versions because they simply don't fit with the rest of the CHUG line that make up my collection. As a result United Megatron is still my stand in.

Scale wise Ultra-Magnus and Jetfire have always towered over everyone else. Megatron, the Seekers and now Soundwave were all silly choices as Leader Class figures IMO.

Where is Sixshot and Overlord or and IDW based Scorponok that isn't a Botcon ripoff? Yeah, yeah...I'm aware there might be plans for a Titan class figure but there's still a lot people who would buy Leader class versions of Ft Maxx, Scorponok and Overlord in an instant!

I understand the PM Prime retool (I just don't like it) but oversized crappy designs like Blaster and Soundwave are a waste for this line IMO.

Sixshot was rumored by the Transmissions Podcast.
Can you send me the link to that podcast?

Well, I am wanting both of these. They both look really cool and will stand proud on my shelves.

Also, I only ever saw 1 (the 1 I bought) G1 Megs in the wild, while Armada still lingers. I have yet to see Magnus or Starscream in the wild as well.

And Sixshot needs done right. I am willing to wait :MAXIMAL:

The literal leaders of the Decepticons and Autobots are being cited as bad choices for the Leader class. There's some irony there.

I mean I understand your reasoning. From a scale perspective, if Magnus and Jetfire are leaders, these guys would be better as Voyagers or smaller. But Hasbro doesn't care as much about scale, they care about who's going to sell well, and if you've got an expensive toy, you need to know it will sell. Strong gimmicks are one way, name value is another. Optimus Prime and Megatron have strong name value.

Its even worse than that, the plastic isnt even really grey. It has some of that ugly brown colour mixed in there too. Grey could be a really cool and decent colour to use for plastic, but in this case it just ends up being very bland and not full.

Over here, Armada Megatron was shelfwarming for a while... Untill a 30-35$CAN for leaders sale at TrU. I tought I had time and I could get one using a raincheck because I was broke at the time... WRONG! ALL the fokken leaders were almost instantly gone and the shelves never recovered after that, remaining empty of leaders untill some months later with a lone 60$ Starscream.

I congratulate myself for not waiting and paying full price for Leader G1 Megatron. With reprolabels on, he's very PIMP and awesome in my collection. No regrets. No regrets at all.

So, when a store have the figure you really want, DONT wait for a sale. It's a gamble you might lose.

And personally, I don't give a flying fok about scale. I don't display teams. I display all the characters as groups of the same characters. Meaning a Megatron display, a Optimus one, a Starscream one, ect. Then, it's by lines or categories for the rest, meaning all the minibots, Armada, RID, combiners, Beast Wars, ect.

But heh, personal preferences.

Yeah well them "not caring" is what spawned over 80 3rd party companies that make versions of TF figures and add on's they think won't sell. Not 1 or 2, 80+! So if that's Hasbro's logic at this point then they're stupid!

And it's not like I'm saying they should open up the floodgates on nothing but obscure $25 and $50 characters, there's nothing obscure about Sixshot or Scorponok or even Overlord. H3ll, what's hard about making a CHUG/Generations Dinobot that isn't Grimlock?

My theory is that if it's a quality figure it will sell!

Well, think if you had only ever watched the American cartoons and not read any of the comic books. Would Sixshot and Overlord be recognizable? Would you expect Scorponok to be anything other than gigantic? There in lies the rub. My son has no idea who half the Decepticons on my display shelf are. He thinks whitimus prime is awesome and he was pissed when I told him I was going to get a reprolabels set to turn him into a different character that he didn't know. He thinks Drift should be orange! He's seen G1 and some of BW, then Prime, RID, and RB. And that is Hasbro's target audience. We are Takara's and 3P's target audience.

I display the leader decepticons with some of the deluxe versions of mini-cars, then I use the legends in my CHUG display. But UM and JF make the CHUG shelf because they're supposed to bigger, PMOP will be put alongside them, but Blaster will be fighting decepticreeps by himself for a while.

In terms of quality, Movie Leader Starscream is the summum of quality ever exhibited as a standard retail toy by Hasbro. It was designed and engineered by the same guy who did MP 10. And it didnt sell, even for its 40$ price. Kanrabat can tell you of the mountain of Leader Starscreams he found at 50% off that still werent selling. The Alternators line was quality, that was the whole point of the line and it didnt sell well either, leading Hasbro to cancel that line while Takara kept going. And Walmart isnt selling another MP after what happened with Skywarp, which didnt sell and was the highest level of quality at the time.

So quality does not sell, there is no correlation between the two.

Also, 3p companies do not make a ton of money. Many have gone under. How many of those 80+ still exist today? Also in that 80, some are the same under a different name (or made up of personnel from other ones that went under). If they made any money, Hasbro would surely sue, but they are fully aware that the legal costs would be superior to what they would get out of it.

Hasbro's logic is very sound and it is the following: How can we satisfy the public while assuring that we keep our shareholders happy? And the club has given us tons of niche characters Hasbro proper wouldnt give. And if you are still not satisfied once a toy is released, we have the luxury (unlike say Star Wars fans) of actually getting another take on that toy through Takara.

Yeah, doesn't make much sense to me; I thought it was about the Titanmasters, but now, I think it may be about the triple changing voyagers - which also doesn't make much sense :HEADHURTS:

I think it means the Leader Class are also being considered triple changes by Hasbro, Robot mode, Vehicle (or boom box) mode, base mode.

Its even worse than that, the plastic isnt even really grey. It has some of that ugly brown colour mixed in there too. Grey could be a really cool and decent colour to use for plastic, but in this case it just ends up being very bland and not full.

Agreed... It's a very bland khaki, almost oatmeal color... Not a fan.
Not sure I like the actual figure all that much either, but that "gray" color is not good imo.

I've never been a huge fan of Blaster, so I'll probably pass on both of these.
