That is the main point that has me believing these are both sets like the Combiner Wars stuff. Hopefulyl the price will be more along the lines of those and not the platinum kind. This just means i will hold off getting PMOP.

I'd assume the sets would be around $120 USD.

Just to be clear, Botcon are not higher end collectibles, at least not more than any other toy of the same mold with a decent deco. Its a word I would use more for Masterpiece figures which are higher end in quality, detail, parts count ect. I have Botcon toys and they arent more impressive than others I own. The only reason they cost more is because they are licensed to a third party company (fun pub) which doestn make use of economies of scale. The price only works with the demand, but if there is no demand, the price will go down. Depthcharge was going for less than any retail deluxe figure.

I'm guessing Cosmos is retooled to hold a Headmaster like Wheelie and Bumblebee Doo. Seaspray too.

It's just what Hasbro does for different waves. For instance, the recent Wave 2 has their Leader class be made up of Soundwave and a Powermaster Prime re-release. Fills up the assortments.
I really hope that boxset thing is fake. I don't want to have to get two more deluxes, a voyager and a frikkin' leader just to get Nautica, especially when I couldn't care less about Quickswitch and the autobot clones. I'm sure they'll be great toys, but I'm kind of on a budget and want to prioritise MTMTE. If they're really gonna do this I'm actually gonna be a little angry.
Maybe it will have the new crown the prototype had

Very doubtful. It's just a rerelease to fill out the case assortments like Hasbro's been doing for years; don't look into it too much.

william-james88 wrote:A seperate post for a seperate idea. This interview has John Warden state that the whole concept of retools has changed since CW. Now they plan the whole line out and see what they can do. So its no longer putting new heads on the same body (aside from when its exactly that). And I like how he uses the word pretool, which means its part of the Hasbro lexicon now. You can see that at the 2 minute mark. Personally, I much preffer the idea of parts sharing to make different figures rather than have a main mold that is then retooled.
Fascinating. The Classics-style line has definitely shifted in the last few years in terms of design, and I definitely don't think it's a bad thing. If you had told me a few years ago we were going to get proper combiners that look good, Headmasters, and bots that transformed into things other than cars and jets, I'd have called you crazy. It never seemed like Combiners were on the radar, even after the Powercore Combiners and Fall of Cybertron figures, which never looked quite right. And it always seemed that in order for them to go to market with a figure, it had to be recognizable as a car or a jet or other vehicle - having Blaster and Soundwave actually look like cassette players seemed to be off the table, and more "alien"-looking alt modes were shifted toward more Earthlike designs.
Figures have also gotten simpler (yet still solid) transformations in the last few years, and I think that's partly down to planning out retools such that the figures can look different but transform the same way with swapped parts.
Overall, I think planning things out a little more has improved the figures and selection of figures we're getting. I'd love to see them go back to some of the original Classics and Universe figures and redo some of them (Prowl/Smokescreen/Bluestreak and Ironhide/Ratchet leap to mind, even if they were part of Combiner Wars).

The second release of Combiner Wars Onslaught did not come with anything different. This will just be another chance to get Galvatron especially since he is proving very popular right now, regardless of the gimmick. Its just stocking the wave with older toys. Like this upcoming wave:
As you can tell, there is nothing new about any of the toys being rereleased
OR this:
Wave 6:
Wave 5:
Dont expect anything different from Galvatron.

But it also means another chance for a solo retail Scrounge
Which wasn't even a great figure cause it no resemblance of scrounge other than a sphere like shape and his head the mold is great but only for cosmos not scournge

Let me stop you right there. I've had the box set for almost two weeks now, and Scrounge is an awesome little dude, and is one of my favorites of the set (second only to Strafe).
Besides, Scrounge transformed into a wheel, and Hasbro wouldn't be caught dead making a figure of that. The Cosmos mold is the best choice, given that you can prop it up sideways and it looks close enough to Scrounge's original wheel form. Plus, his new head is awesome.
Wheel based Transforming Characters do not seem to bother Bandai they have made several over the last 2 or 3 decades.
----------
I hope the Optimus Prime is a new design with a cute little truck vehicle - to ride in.
Ideally with a Unique head - either one that matches the colours of other toys with a different face plate or no face plate, or some other useful design like Cybertron style head or Star Convoy style head. something with some use to it - also the weapon mode would look decent when held by a larger Optimus Hopefully.
-------
I think the clones idea is a great one - it's a shame that the name reuse would step on other characters toes or the Brainstorm design might also work OK for animated Jetfire & Jetstorm homages too.
But yeah the Clone idea is a good one and one I've liked ever since it first popped up.

I beg to differ, Hasbro has made a ton of figures that turned into random circles.
<insert images here>
Except that they were shaped that way because of a gimmick. The Mini-Cons could be used with the Deployers, and the Data Disks could be put inside Soundwave and Blaster. Scrounge is just a wheel, with nothing for him to interact with (besides his special arm, as there is no other like it).

The post says they're lines but when listening to the actual podcast it's unclear how they're being released, box set makes the most sense to me though. They also talk about a Voyager optimus in the speed set but I think that too is a mistake.
Wait, it says items 3-5 + Voyager Prime. Nautica is listed as item 6.
Yeah that was the transcriber messing up. When Nautica was first rumored they said she was part of the speed set. When they talked about her again they just talked about mold choice and I think he forgot she was apart of the set. They never revised the rumor saying she was a stand alone figure.
Dammit. Guess I'm not getting Nautica for a while then...

Doubt it! + i don't think PMOP ever came with Roller(nor will i doubt that Octanemus Prime)
He wasn't talking about Powermaster Optimus Prime, he said Titan Master Optimus Prime. As in, the Titan Master class of little head guys who come with little vehicles they can ride in.

Titan Master Optimus coming with Roller would be a neat double-reference considering Powermaster Optimus was originally supposed to be a Headmaster that transformed from a roller-looking vehicle.
Btw i noticed that in Leader Class, the next one after Soundwave, is Sixshot, seeing as how quickly we got Soundwave here in the UK, hopefully we won't have to wait too long for Sixshot

? This is just a standard wave release list like we have here and on tfwiki. Am I missing something?

At what point was i mentioning Blitzwing, Octane, Seaspray, Toraizer & Ramhorn?
I WAS TALKING ABOUT SIXSHOT!!!
i think it's YOU that can't read
& look! i don't give a rat's @$$ to what else is listed on there! to what's ALSO listed on here! coz i'm sure that same or similar lists are on all or most transformers related sites right across the internet! but that's NOT what i was discussing! as i previously mentioned before.....on that list...the Leader that comes after Soundwave(which btw has recently & fairly quicky been released here in the UK...before the US) is Sixshot! so there's a chance that Sixshot may appear here in the UK fairly quickly and soon! & YES! of course there's no definite release date set in stone for the figure yet! but....one can hope....like with the Soundwave release...that it'll be fairly soon.
