Wave 2 already? Sheesh, better get Firedrive and Blowpipe when I see them, along with the Micros... Better hold me if that "Road" Patrol is actually the Off Road Patrol, my very first:

*ahem* That Cybertron-inspired Prime looks... OK, anyone who was meh'ed at PotP Optimal Optimus? I now know exactly how you feel, I still own my original Galaxy Convoy, and love it still. I'll have to see its transformation and some in-hand images before deciding.

And I wouldn't mind him being a mold mate of Brunt. It'd actually be pretty cool if he was a Weaponizer.

Free publicity is free? I think there have only been 2 new figures leaked, the ss op and this op - hardly the line ruining leaks for the cw trilogy; they've certainly been curtailed since a few years ago. They'll probably deal with it at their own pace I'm sure >:oP

Yeah, those are the only 2 solid leaks. Which sure beats 2 years ago when the majority of Studio Series and POTP was leaked.

TR had all those art leaks too, but yeah, things have taken an upturn, or they would have, if we didn't get line-wide listings for things from retailers or something

Hmmm...I just watched a video review of the 2005 Transformers: Cyberton Leader Class Optimus Prime figure. I never had the figure myself, but I think a little bit of nostalgia is rosening up some collectors' glasses on the toy, honestly. It's big and chunky, yes, but it's also very basic in its transformation, not especially well articulated, and way too heavy for its own good, especially in Super Mode. At least we know the upcoming SIEGE homage will have ankle tilts! There are parts and panels that don't really seem to "clip" into place, like the side windows of the cab and the "wings" when folded up into trailer mode. The loss of the "flight mode" seems to be no big deal either, as it looks even more ridiculous than the "plane mode" on Titans Return Voyager Optimus Prime with the primary wings stuck on the back end of the fuselage.

I have the original and I really like its flight mode. It's not meant to be a plane mode other like TR Voyager Optimus Prime's. It's just a flying truck with wings.

That is one thing that I thought was awesome about the Unicron Trilogy, especially in Cybertron. The on-screen character models were actually based on the toys, right down to how they transform. That's a level of detail we haven't gotten since, unfortunately, except for some of Animated.

I don't think so, everyone (myself included) has been pretty up front about it's flaws, and it has them too. But the thing I think has everyone excited is:

-It's not G1 (trust me g1 fatigue is real and as it encroaches on other lines (ss for one) it's only going to get worse)

-The original is an extremely fun toy, and that people still want it is a testament to how it holds up

-It's not a 'g1 with knee's' scenario, its a completely different take on a figure that technically needed no updating (I'd argue that a reissue with better ratchets is warranted) so it's not necessarily competing against it's older counterpart

-It's a more budget-friendly option for newer collectors to obtain, remember cybertron came out almost 15 years ago, the movies and shows that came out after it, ushered in so many new collectors that had missed out on this gem (and many other), so now they have a chance to get a version of it to experience;

So all in all, I think this is not only going to be a fun toy that many collectors are going to want for a wide reaching number of reasons, but also offers a small breath of fresh air from the stringent g1-itude of the line, which is something we all need every now and then.
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Hellscream. I am excited for this new SIEGE interpretation of the Cybertron design. I was just trying to point out that, yes, the original mold from 2005 does have flaws and is not inherently nor obviously superior to his new homage we are getting in 2019, especially when it comes to things like availability and affordability, as you have said, in addition to likely superior poseability and stability.

Well the old one didn't parts form all it's stuff; but yeah, the old one needed way better ratchets as all its add-ons are really heavy and it's proportions are kinda off, but yeah other than that, I'd say it lives up to the hype

Unless it's a direct update from the bricky days of G1 (like a lot of Prime War figures of guys who didn't have any new update), very few figures from the latter era are truly a step up on a modern budget, as figures from the past decade were generally bigger, beefier and more gimmick-loaded compared to the more streamlined and cost-saving style of today. I'd argue that most are simply a tradeoff between size/gimmick for more modern articulation and better proportions and look, with Optimal Optimus being a good example of how much the proportions have improved.

And man, that Cybertron Optimus! It's not perfect by any mean but I'm genuinely shocked at how much of the super mode is spot on to the Galaxy Convoy design. That said as cool as he is, I'm not entirely sure, as that pic make his shoulders look weird and undersized compared to Ultra Magnus but it could be the angle. Plus I already have two Optimus in my collection.

Hmmm. But maybe with some white paint he'd make an interesting Prima custom...? :-?

The only real option would be to have the extra wheels parts-form to the cab like the rest of the trailer/armor, but even that would be difficult without driving the parts count up.

On this figure the front wheels snap off and go onto his arms. Would people have complained if he had two wheels on his arms instead of one to fill the gap better? It would have cost them a little more plastic, but it seems worth it to me.

carytheone wrote:With such a deliberate slow tickle, how do we know the "leaks" aren't intentional. Plausible deniability :-?

Toy Fair is coming up fast and it isn't a fan event so why would they need to hype people up with a slow leak like this? Seems unlikely.

While it would be cool if Hasbro somehow made an official Nova Prime, I unfortunately already splurged on a massive upgrade kit for Battle Core Optimus Prime, so I got all my Nova Prime needs covered.
