It appears that it is that time once again my friends to celebrate the beginning of another New Year! However, this time around "It is the year 2005 ...", something that once seemed so distant yet is now a matter of 8 hours away here in the Central timezone.
While this year certainly had its share of drama, 2004 will remain an incredible year as we celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Transformers. 2004 brought us more Alternators, more news about the upcoming Transformers movie from Dreamworks, more kickass comic books from Dreamwave, the return of Beast Wars in Japan, the cross-over line called Robot Masters, a pretty awesome contest and Transformers game from Atari, another awesome summer of Transformers conventions worldwide, some incredible reissues such as Stepper and Predaking, and so much more that it is hard to keep track of all of the cool things from the past year. And I have a very, very strong feeling that 2005 won't be any different.
On a more personal level, I would like to say that I think I did a pretty damn good job of accomplishing my goals for the site from
my New Year's statement last year about this time. If you take a look at that article, you'll see that I talked about a "
HUGE ASS image gallery" of the Transformers. I think by posting a total of
404 galleries in the past year was quite an accomplishment. This site went from having only a small handful of crappy galleries to one of
the largest Transformers toy galleries on the entire Internet.
In addition to the massive number of galleries added to this site, I also set out to truly make 2004 the "Year of the Toys" on the site by adding an official
Transformers Toy Sightings section that features a slew of
retail store chains as well as a
Store Locator for residents of the US.
Toy galleries and Toy Sightings not enough for you? How about the recently launched
Free-Style Transformers Toy Reviews section? This will be the hot new feature on the site over the course of the next few months as more and more people start to use this new section. The Free-Style method allows you to add a review that suits your personal needs.
But enough about things from 2004. What's in store for 2005? Well, I don't really know yet. Glyph has been hard at work on the Heavy Metal War game. The ability to add Free Style Reviews for the cartoon episodes will be launched shortly. I really, really want to start up the screen captures once again, especially now that all of G1 and Beast Wars is completely available on DVD. And of course, I plan on continuing making more galleries of the figures on the site. Primus knows there's a ton more for me to photograph.
On that note (and after realizing that I'm rambling), I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year! I think 2005 has a ton of exciting possibilities for both the fandom and this site. Remember, don't drink and drive!
Sincerely,
Ryan and the staff of SEIBERTRON.com
