Today, DeNA and Hasbro revealed a variety of new character art for TRANSFORMERS: BATTLE TACTICS, a new turn-based tactical combat game coming soon to iOS and Android.
TRANSFORMERS: BATTLE TACTICS is the first game that lets players command a team of both AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON characters, strategically utilizing powerful abilities to defeat their opponents. TRANSFORMERS: BATTLE TACTICS will feature over 75 iconic characters including classic heroes like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee joining forces with baddies like Megatron and Starscream. The art style mixes retro 80’s appeal with an anime twist that will resonate with Transformers fans both young and old.
In addition, here are some character bios DeNA provided to us:
Bumblebee
Autobots (Soldier)
Bumblebee is always ready for anything. He has an arsenal of gadgets designed just for him, which he can use to meet the needs of any mission. No matter where the Decepticons hide - whether they flee to the deepest ocean, or disappear into the clouds - Bumblebee is ready to pursue and destroy them.
Wheeljack
Autobots (Soldier)
Wheeljack was onboard the Ark ship that initially crashed on Earth. Equal parts medic and inventor, most of the Autobots' scientific advances have come from Wheeljack's lab. Enterprising and outgoing, he's always one of the most popular Autobots. His best invention is a near-impenetrable faceplate, which has been handy when volatile prototype inventions have literally exploded in his face. In combat, his seismic batons ward off enemies.
Alpha Bravo
Autobots | Aerialbots (Hunter)
The newest member of the Aerialbots and the only member that is not a jet plane. His assault helicopter mode gives the team a member with VTOL and hovering capabilities, but he cannot match his teammates' top speed. Being the "new guy" and the slowest flyer of the group makes him feel like he has something to prove. Carries four tracker missiles that process a "spark lock" to their targets. With fellow Aerialbots forms "Superion."
Megatron
Decepticons (Soldier)
There was a time when the name of Megatron was honored by many across Cybertron But power inevitably corrupts, and none are so powerful as mighty Megatron. Long ago, he forgot he was a hero, and became nothing more than a tyrant. The war he launched eventually drained his home planet of life. Not even the death of a world could sate his hunger for conquest.
Starscream
Decepticons (Scout)
Starscream commands one of the most fearsome military units from Cybertron: the Seekers. The squadron has brought him great power and glory, but that means nothing as long as Megatron is the one who rules the Decepticons. Until Starscream can claim that throne, he will have to be content to be king of the Seekers.
Thundercracker
Decepticons (Scout)
Thundercracker lives on fear. Special materials in his jet frame allow him to unleash controlled sonic detonations that can be heard 200 miles away. Streaking across the sky at Mach 6, he wants his enemies to hear him before they see him. He wants them to know he's coming, and cower in fear at their impending doom.
Drag Strip
Decepticons | Stunticons (Soldier)
Nasty and underhanded - would rather be scrapped than lose. Prone to overheating, but possesses the greatest pure speed of any Stunticon. Adopting the alt-mode of an advanced concept Formula One race car gives him a sixth gear the Autobots cannot match, but leaves him with a slightly fragile vehicle mode. His fierce competitive streak and unmatched speed makes him the ideal "tip of the spear" for the Stunticon forces. With fellow Stunticons forms "Menasor."

Topic discussion - figure quality control and what constitutes an inexcusable flaw, or what can you look past?
Ask the Twincast - from our own news staff member william-james88:
Of course, original stickers in good quality will always be most desirable but what is worth more between:
A g1 toy with reprolabel stickers or a g1 toy with faded/incomplete/scrappy original stickers.
Does applying reprolabels to a G1 transformer make it lose value?

We have been treating it with uncertainty so far, since our first reporting of the news, but multiple Seibertronians, discussion threads, news sources and the official Hasbro Twitter account appear to confirm that the toy company and Netflix have indeed not reached an agreement for the continuation of several of their series. Relevant to our interests, Transformers: Prime, Beast Hunters, Rescue Bots and G1 will all be removed as a result - read more on this below, and head here for a full piece.
Netflix is dropping “My Little Pony” and “Transformers” from its streaming service next month after a failure to come to terms with Hasbro Studios on a new deal.
Other shows coming off on Feb. 2 are “G.I. Joe,” “Pound Puppies” and “Chuck and Friends.” Netflix began carrying Hasbro’s content in 2012.
A Netflix spokeswoman told TheWrap she couldn’t give details about the deal, but added, “Netflix has such a broad set of content that no one vendor accounts for a significant amount of viewing on a consistent basis.”
We're committed to ensuring that ppl can access our shows anytime & anywhere. We're hopeful we can continue to offer them on Netflix in U.S.
Were you unable to make the SacAnime convention at the beginning of January, or did you miss your chance to hear from Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime (and many many more?). Fear not, as YouTube reviewer Sean Long was not only present, but has also shared recordings of the two panels featuring the veteran voice actor (around 50 minutes each), and an interview with the man himself! They touched upon personal stories, his opinion on Transformers toys past and present, favourite Optimus lines, potential successors, and future projects, from Rescue Bots, Robots in Disguise, and NASA. Find them below for the full viewing.
To refresh your memory about Cullen and his importance to the franchise, check out fellow Seibertronian and voice actor jON3.0's introduction to the man behind the mask, also mirrored below, highlighting the life, career and achievements of one of the human Transformers icons alive.
The Transformers Legends Facebook page have posted details of their latest mobile device game episode - featuring the Dinobots, Insecticons, and the big purple himself, Shockwave. Check out details below.
TRANSFORMERS LEGENDS - “RESCUE THE KING” HAS BEGUN!
SLUG and SNARL traverse the Sea of Rust, searching for their leader, the mighty GRIMLOCK. As they are about to give up on their search and look elsewhere, the group is suddenly set upon by HARDSHELL and the INSECTICONS.
The Lightning Strike Coalition put up a valiant fight, destroying many of their foes in the process, but in the end are captured by the overwhelming DECEPTICON forces. Shortly thereafter, they are brought before SHOCKWAVE and an unconscious GRIMLOCK.
Gesturing to their leader, SHOCKWAVE reveals to SLUG and SNARL that it was his plan all along to lure the Lightning Strike Coalition to him, so he could alter them to create new superweapons. With that, he begins his experiments on GRIMLOCK, the sounds of machinery filling the room.
Will the AUTOBOTS emerge unscathed and victorious, or will they be twisted by the alterations? What nefarious plans does SHOCKWAVE have for GRIMLOCK and his team? Find out on TRANSFORMERS Legends - “Rescue the King”!
The official Transformers Facebook page has uploaded a new clip to promote the arrival of animated series Robots in Disguise - and the spotlight falls upon the Decepticon prisoners! Check out the embedded clip below for just a little more on Steeljaw, Underbite and more devious cons.
Who are the villains that the new team of Autobots will be tackling when Transformers: Robots in Disguise debuts on Cartoon Network this year? We're glad you asked! Check out an inside look at Steeljaw and his dastardly Decepticons!
Thanks to tips from fellow Seibertron.com user Sabrblade, we can share the first two episodes of the Transformers Q videos from Takara Tomy. The first episode is summarised below by Sabrblade, and features Bumblebee, Lockdown and Optimus Prime discussing the Transformers toys and the 30th - while the second discusses the Mystery of Convoy game, and Transformers games in general. Check them both out below!
"30-Shūnen Shōhin no Nazo" (The Mystery of the 30th Anniversary Merchandise).
The gist of the episode is that Bumblebee, Lockdown, and Optimus talk about how it's now the 30th anniversary of the brand, how the Q Transformers toys are "cutie" (QT) versions of the Transformers, and then discuss what would happen in cases that would try to make Transformers cuter (along with their own reactions, be they silly or horrified).
"Kakujitsu na Kusogee no Nazo" (The Mystery of a Game That Certainly Stinks). (Kusogee or kuso-game literally "crappy games.")
If there is one category that Paramount and Michael Bay's Transformers movies can be recognised as succeeding by most fans, it's in the visual effects departments. And it seems as though the industry also agrees, as we know from ComingSoon.net: Age of Extinction has been nominated for the 13th Annual VES Awards, in the Outstanding Models in any Motion Media Project category! Read a bit below, and find out more about other nominees here.
“Visual effects in and by themselves are nothing unless they serve the story,” said Jeffrey A. Okun, VES Chair. “This year, more than ever, we are seeing amazing work that not only serves the story but tells the story in a manner never before seen. The VES Awards is proud that we are the only organization that showcases and honors these amazing artists in depth and across a wide range of fields. We are extremely proud of our nominees!”
