Here are the photos followed by the description from comicbook.com
Hasbro has unveiled new Transformers figures inspired by the original comic book series, and you're seeing them first here at ComicBook.com! The first Transformers comic was produced by Marvel between 1984 and 1991, and these new Shockwave and Grimlock figures come straight out of its pages. The year 1984 was certainly special for Transformers fans, which is why you'll see 40th anniversary branding on the box along with iconic cover art from Transformers #5 Shockwave "Are All Dead" and Transformers #8 "And Now The Dinobots!" issues.
Inside the boxes you'll find figures with comic book-style deco and plenty of accessories. A full breakdown of both figures can be found below. Pre-order details have not been revealed at the time of writing, but they will hit store shelves in the Summer of 2024. This article will be updated with direct pre-order links when they become available. Stay tuned.
TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS COMIC EDITION SHOCKWAVE ($39.99): "Ruled by logic, if it is more logical for Shockwave to override Megatron and seize command of the Decepticons, he will take that chance. Inspired by the original The TRANSFORMERS comic book series, this 7-inch Shockwave action figure converts from robot to Cybertronian spaceship mode in 15 steps. With comic-accurate deco and black line hatching details, Shockwave looks like it came out of a comic book, celebrating 40 years since TRANSFORMERS robots made their comic debut in 1984. Features articulated heads, arms, and legs for action poses and comes with the head of Optimus Prime piece that can be placed on the included display stand (display stand assembly required)."
TRANSFORMERS GENERATIONS COMIC EDITION GRIMLOCK ($59.99) "Grimlock leads a team of powerful Dinobots and fights on impulse, making him one of the strongest – and most unpredictable – Autobots. Inspired by the original The TRANSFORMERS comic book series, this 8.5-inch Grimlock action figure converts from robot to T.rex mode in 22 steps. With comic-accurate deco and black line hatching details, Grimlock looks like it came out of a comic book, celebrating 40 years since TRANSFORMERS robots made their comic debut in 1984. Feature articulated heads, arms, and legs for action poses and comes with 3 swords, double-barreled blaster and a crown accessory that can sit on the figure's head."

He's in robot mode on the cover. You can't see his gun mode barrel.AcademyofDrX wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Disappointed that Shockwave's barrel is still purple instead of gray. Dramatic Capture Series got that one right.
The purple matches the color on the comic book cover and in the issue. It's accurate for this release.

Sorry, my mistake, I thought you were talking about his arm cannon barrel. Though again, it matches the source material. The barrel is purple in the comics.

Grimlock and Shockwave look incredible. Loving the comicbook accurate Optimus head, I know it will just be for display and not compatible with the upcoming commander, but I wish it was. Also, cheeky move giving Grimlock all the missing Dinobot swords.
EDIT: I meant Beachcomber's parakeet

Shockwave is interesting too. Have the original release but thats on my movie shelf… my decepticon season 1 shelf is a bit bare….
Sandstorm, definitely an excellent looking figure and was always a big fan of the original toy. Id still
Have preferred if they went with a more toon accurate head sculpt. Now i hope they have broadside in their sights. Also ss86 astrotrain and blitzwing would be nice aherm.

Some reveals!!!! Yesss!!!!!! I've been itching for this
Shockwave looks cool! I'm happy with my siege Shockwave though
Grimlock looks great! And I love that it comes with swords for slug and Sludge. I never got 86 Grimlock because the MP works fine for me, and I have the G2 tiger stripe one as well. But man this one is tempting!
Sandstorm! Bit of a mixed bag for me. I love that it has the toy accurate head, the toon head always looked derpy and boring to me. The alt modes look fantastic, those definitely took priority. Robot mode looks... okay. Sandstorm always had a backpack but this is quite a bit. Doesn't help that the arms and legs are pretty thin. But I'll be picking this up for sure!!!
Also, what's that cage about? It's awesome! But is that from an episode or they just did it for funsies?

Shockwave is skippable for me.
Sandstorm looks surprisingly good? Like, I was expecting Blitzwing level of disappointment, but he looks really solid, and I love the toy head. I may need to get him after all.

Haha that's awesome, thank you for pointing that out I don't think I'd have noticed
I like the way the cage for the chopper integrates into the buggy mode. That's pretty neat, and those tires look sick

I think purple Soundwave with Ratbat is a possibility, given how iconic the colourscheme for Soundwave is and Ratbat's big role in the comic makes him a perfect pack in. He could even get a new head, given they're clearly doing new tooling for this line.
No idea what the remaining set could be, but I'm thinking it could be Ratchet. I guess Megatron could be another possibility, but I suspect that they won't and that they're focused on making a new sculpt for Megs for next year or so.

Do we really need space bridge teases if we already know what's coming? Also, which pre-orders do you think would drop aside from Sansdtorm's ?

It didn't happen at any rate, just some rando SW stuff. I would have thought the entirety of wave 2 would go on pre-order as is normal. In the past, a day or two before a TF Fanstream, some sites like IGN might get a couple of images from Hasbro, but not the whole wave, which is revealed at the event. Also I like Spacebridge reveals. Leaked lists are ok, but they don't tell the whole story, and obviously there are changes. There was occasionally some surprises that were not leaked.

Sandstorm is interesting. The two vehicle modes look very good imho, it looks like neither was sacrificed for the other. Robot mode on the other hand, defiantly got hit bad. still, it looks good. May have to get it.

I don't want to get that Grimlock but I guess I'm going to now.
It's kind of funny that this will be the fourth Grimlock release and we have yet to even see Swoop. Shame there's no gun or launcher looking gun for Snarl though so they can all have a sword and a gun of some sort. I wonder if this means that Swoop will come with his two launchers AND his sword as there seems to only be three swords here (Grimlock's, Slag's and Sludge's). Just when I was thinking about getting a new sword for Sludge since the one I have has no storage options too. The one I have now has an updated design with a 5mm peg on the side of the hilt so it can store somewhere. Now I don't have to worry about it for the most part.
Shockwave looks good and I want one in that particular shade but I don't like the shading effects. I don't need that Optimus head setup either so that's going to be a pass from me. I wonder if this means that the leader Soundwave that's rumored to be comics colors is also going to have the shading. I might just get them anyway and take the shading off if it doesn't bother any other paint on the figures. The shading just isn't my thing as it doesn't match anything but I like the alternate colors...except for Grimlock. I don't like his comic colors.
Sandstorm looks really good in both vehicle modes. The robot mode looks pretty good as well from the front. The backpack doesn't look TOO bad either. Or rather, it looks fairly well contained. Shame about those ankle wheels though. It's nice to get an official look of a figure before an unofficial look.

Comic Grimmy, why not? And that Shockwave won't have the Seige bits, making him a voyager? Both feels like some sort of "exclusive."

Shockwave does not come with the extra pieces that made him Leader priced, just the little optimus head device, which is apparently cheaper, so he's more expensive than a voyager but cheaper than a leader.

Probably because Shocky doesn't have his extra parts that make him a Leader.
Anyway, Is it wrong, I like Comic Gridlock's colors so much I want to get him? That blue just works. And the flat yellow looks great.
Sandstorm looks pretty good.
Shockwave is o.k. But still not feeling this mold. It's like almost there, but not quite.

WFC (Siege) Shockwave was IIRC $40 or $45 in 2019? Compared with the new Comic Book release in 2024. Cost of Materials increase (5 years later), plus instead of the extra "bits" that made Siege Shockwave a leader, you get a stand with Optimus Primes Head, and Premium Packaging. Whether you can justify the $40.00 cost in 2024 or not, is for each person to decide.
SS86 Grimlock was IIRC $50 in 2021. Compared with the new Comic Book Release in 2024. Cost of Materials increase (3 years later). Instead of a small Wheelie static figure, you get 2 extra swords, a crown, and premium Packaging. Whether you can justify the $60.00 cost in 2024 or not, is for each person to decide.
Also, while the G2 SS86 Tiger stripe deco may be cool for some, it was $55 just a few months ago (without Wheelie), THIS comic book release comes with 2 extras Swords, a crown and premium packaging for only $5 more doesn't seem so bad.
I was never a fan of comic book decos, so I'm passing on these, but I'm happy for those that want them.
Posted by Rodimus Prime on February 6th, 2024 @ 5:43pm CST
As a G1 comic fan, I'm definitely getting Grimlock and Shockwave, but I don't care for the extra swords. I do have all the SS86 Dinobots, so I guess I'll give the swords to them if that's who they're for.
My only complaint is that in the comics Shockwave and Grimlock were the same size. I like the SS86 mold, but they should have used a voyager sized Grimlock for this. Unfortunately the PoTP figure was a pile of crap, so I'm glad they didn't use that one. I am happy about this Shockwave, now I might skip that 3-pack with Megatron and Soundwave.
I wonder if we'll eventually get the other Dinobots in comic colors (Red Swoop!) as well, since technically Shockwave did fight all 5 of them.

I especially like this one. (Is the cable a wire, or was a support just very well-edited out?) I'm so glad modern Transformers promotional photography is taken so much more seriously. The reveal photos for every wave since Legacy started have done so much to put life into the figures with these little dioramas and landscapes. A very welcome and appreciated custom after years of basic poses and obvious mistransformations.
Shockwave and Grimlock both look really cool, too. I am satisfied with the original SS86 Grimmy, but my G1 Decepticon shelf does happen to be missing a Shockwave...

We did just have those rumored cancellations, it would have been nice to have some sort of confirmation o them happening or not. Obviously they wouldn't tell us outright if something was cancelled, but if they said Core Dinobot was coming in the future that would be a different story.
Squawk'n'talk wrote:Ratchet with a red head would be near the top of my wishlist.
Definitely at the top of my list, I've wanted one since forever. Closest we've come is Botcon, but that was no different than custom painting the head of any other Ratchet figure we've gotten.
That said; Hasbro, I DARE YOU!

Dude, I brought it up twice. The first time was because it was going around that it was Prime in the Gears review, and I thought it was possible since at the angle it was shown there was some extra bits that I hadn't seen on the YoloPark model. The second time was now because I thought it would be funny if this random release would use the head as an Easter Egg of sorts. Chill.

Shockwave is missing the accessories that turn him into a leader class, so he is released here as a voyager class figure while Grimlock is released as a leader class figure

I feel the same for Sandstorm most especially the Takara version, it's awesome! It is IMHO a fine representation of a Modern Sandstorm in all it's essence. I dunno with most up to date TF's why do so many feel that a modern version of that figure must have details so close to the original? Just like Takra LG Blurr, I feel is a perfect representation of a modern Blurr and yet there is the Studio figure which I had no need for. Might I change my mind if this new version proves greater than the previous one (hoping for little to no flaws or QC issues) oh hell yes, but we'll see when that first review hits!

My guess for the other slot would be either Ratchet by himself or a Ratchet vs Megatron pack, since I feel like Ratchet is the most requested Marvel deco I seen anyone talking about (although I imagine a number of people would complain about another Siege Megatron repaint) and I still think the Legacy Leader Soundwave is gonna be Marvel deco.

Yeah, there's too damn many characters whose name ends with "wave" coming out this year... I mean, we already have another Soundwave coming out in that mold this year that 3-pack so it would be strange to basically do it again as a stand alone leader figure that will also certainly be sold in Japan. Makes a lot more sense for it to be something entirely different and comic colors makes the most sense.
