While the wave 2 deluxe class figures have been available at specialty retailers, like comic shops, in the Us for over a month, they never hit full on retail. Well, they have now. A few fans posted their sightings on this Facebook group. All sightings are from Targets but we have sightings in both Arizona and California. This wave includes Tarantulas, Elita-1, Wild Rider and Knockout.

If you have found them, share your sightings with our community in the sightings section and on our boards in your region related thread.

The original, if released today would be at Commander price at the very minimum. So the new one for the allocated budget is not that bad...

But then I just bought the Reprolabels set at 30$US and I plan to get a few upgrade kits to make it perfect. Thus, resulting in a nearly 200$CAN toy in total... All to make it comparable to the original.
And I do have the original.
Ah, the irony.

Do you ... hate yourself?

Well, it's the hobbyist in me that just can't resist doing it. :-B

Like I did for my ER leader Optimus. It's now worth 300$CAN mainly because the only thing that was available at the time were SHAPEWAY parts. And good Lord ordering anything from Shapeway gets ludicrously expensive. Oh and I count in that overall price the Hasbro Pulse exclusive Centurion set whose cost was nearly 85$CAN shipped.

So as for Legacy Leader Optimus, I'll take my time to look for the right kits to give him. There's so many so I can rule out Shapeway and there's no "essentials" that will be Hasbro Pulse exclusives. So the overall cost this time may be under 200$CAN.

I'd have to say the Legacy standouts for me so far are Cosmos at the top, He's just so much fun and the proportions of the saucer mode for whatever reason really don't look as bad in person as they do in photos. My next 2 favorites are the Prime Arcee and Buklkhead molds. I know they aren't as accurate to the original charachters and that has really turned some people off, but they are both really fun molds. And Jhiaxus is just bad-ass.

Of course Motormaster and Metroplex are outstanding, but I find it hard and unfair to compare Commanders and Titans with the rest.

Honestly there hasn't been a mold or figure yet that I dislike and wish I hadn't bought, but the ones I mentioned above really stand out above the rest.

I'll answer two parts that I dislike about it, the arms and the legs.
The arms in alt mode do not seem cohesive to the vehicle, they are just an extra block and don't peg securely.
The legs are the same recycled legs I have seen so many timed before, getting really sick of them, they make the figure feel so cheap in terms of recycling previous elements, including now vestigial parts.

Thankfully for me, I never owned seige or earthrise optimus. That positively influences my opinion of the figure, I'm sure.

If you can find the Netflix Spoiler Pack Nemesis Prime at a reasonable price (meaning normal leade) go for it. It's freaking BAD-ASS and the Siege mold work wonder for Nemesis.

Agreed wholeheartedly, Cosmos is a great figure! As for the rest (omitting Commander and Titan classes), I would have to put Blitzwing near the top of the list. His robot mode is fantastic, and the only downside to me is the jet mode kibble, but it's not enough for me to dislike the figure overall.

looks like this upgrade kit will fix them?

I'm too poor to afford a nemesis prime in my collection unless it is below deluxe price point. :( But I have a suspicion that I know where I can get one (without paying a dime, ]legally  ]).....Not the seige mold though.

According to a friend who studies military vehicles and such, the jet mode is accurate, even the kibble. (though it might not be accurate to the right thing.)

Maybe it's thanks to writing those hundreds of ranking lists but I can always brings a figure to my satisfaction divided by it's price. So the value I place on the figure. In some cases, like with MP Wheeljack, I feel I do get a lot more for paying more than I would for a mainline toy, but with TR Fortress Maximus, I don't feel I got something good for the money I paid. Same with how I find more value in Kingdom Rodimus than MP Hot Rodimus. Some even out, like Kingdom and MP Primal.

I don't own either yet though the legacy titan nor commander yet, so we'll see.

The arms do peg in securely in truck mode. You have to unfold the kneecaps to expose the tabs that will slot into and secure the arms.

I'm still hopeful that a Stunticon set is on the horizon by :TAKARATOMY: . Considering combiners in CW figures were both single and box sets. Even if :HASBRO: boxes them like with Devastator.

Anyway looks like BBTS is carrying the expected upgrade for those that want to beef up their Menasor courtesy of DNA Design! :VEHI:

I was all for this at one time as well, but that time has passed. Three members of the team are out, and the first will be very hard to find soon. There has to be a reasonable time frame. Announcing a box set After an entire team has been released, or as the last member is coming out is a real jerk move. During CW, at least :TAKARATOMY: showed the silhouette of their UW sets early enough so people like me who wanted to pre order the imports could do so without purchasing the CW individual bots first.

During PotP, I waited until It was absolutely certain that TT wouldn't be doing box sets before I started purchasing.

Of course if you go the SS RotF Constructicon route, or TT Gen Selects route and release the set 2 or 3 years after the initial toys come out with some shiny new accessories and/or a new paint job for an astronomical price, that is a jerk move as well.

I've also heard rumblings/requests for Legacy Menasor to be repainted as G2. Please No! They tried this with CW, and they ended up on clearance for $39, and they didn't even get to finish with Defensor!

The team was all done and released before that set was announced and out. Due to inflation waiting on a box set may cost you more. Just go buy them. Dragstrip is everywhere in stores, Motormaster is available online everywhere which wildrider trickling out. Don’t bank on a box set they could or couldn’t happen

Looks like I'll be swinging by Target tonight after work. Besides Inferno, Tarantulas is the only other Legacy figure I want. Amazon hasn't updated the preorder.

Thank you for confirming! I have Motormaster and Dragstrip already, and will continue picking up the individual characters as well when they are released. The price really isn't too concerning (although fairly high). To me, the box sets (not the TT black boxes) are beautifully done, with gorgeous artwork, and is what leads me to purchasing the sets.

Reissuing a combiner team long after it's gone from the store shelves and the only alternative is EvilBay (at 80$ a deluxe), it's a far cry from a "jerk move".
It's the far opposite actually.

They won’t announce a box set during the initial run because it will harm the single figure releases

The arm proportions may be a little strange, but the work well enough for me. They also look better in the alt mode that the original, which just resembled an oversize step. Even without flipping up the knees (which I just discovered recently, and the alt mode was fine without it), The alt mode stays together very well. And it looks real sweet, especially from the front! I enjoy the shifts of different surfaces, from the boxy arms and legs, to the contrast of the smooth cab texture. The gas tanks like to fold in, but you don HAVE to have them out I guess, and it won´t bother anyone who bought the figure for display.

This. Plus boxsets in general are essentially the same as any other rerelease or repacks, they are a way for people who don't have the toys to get them. So if people can get the toys, then there is no reason for a boxset. And if people happen to double dip, then even better, though that isn't the primary purpose of a boxset.

Agreed. I don't really need him to be taller and the new chest is just an alternative, it isn't necessarily better. The only thing I like about this set is the sword. I was shocked that all they did was make the legs longer and not work in a way to turn them around since that seemed like the biggest complaint about this figure, not his height.

That would be fine, if they released them as individuals the exact same way they did the first time, but having a new premium box set with extras they know many people who bought the first are going to double-dip, which is, a Jerk move.

Randomhero wrote:They won’t announce a box set during the initial run because it will harm the single figure releases

The Combiner Teams from 1985-1990 had gift sets along with the individual bots on shelves at the same time, it didn't seem to hurt sales back then. Also as stated above, TT UW sets were announced either at the same time, or slightly before their Hasbro CW counterparts were on shelves, so informed customers could make a choice and not have to buy both.

I'm pretty sure most people who got Selects Volcanicus & Abominus were not first time owners. They were either begrudgingly upgrading, or selling off their PotP versions to try to recoup some of the loss of purchasing the same toy again. I mean Volcanicus is objectively not a great toy, it was highly criticized, and most who wanted Dinobots wanted big beefy leaders like what SS86 is doing now. I dont think from 2018 to 3 years later in 2021, there was a large sum of people that were thinking "darn I missed out on Volcanicus", so much that TT did a slightly upgraded reissue. Same with Abominus. While I am in that "Animation Accurate" niche, it is just that, and not enough to warrant a whole reissue I would think, unless they thought they could sucker enough people who bought the first one to purchase it again.

I partially disagree. I think the leg stunticons should mount on the front of the leg, but with the under kibble of the car facing forward. Like the G1 cartoon and toy. But still, A better scale sword, car drone, and better battle platform integration are always nice.

That would be fine, if they released them as individuals the exact same way they did the first time, but having a new premium box set with extras they know many people who bought the first are going to double-dip, which is, a Jerk move.

That's your opinion, but on a business standpoint, that would mean re-releasing a WHOLE LINE and that would be stupid. They almost did it with some headmasters from Titan Return, but the deco were "more G1 accurate", they came in spiffy "G1" boxes, and they were Walmart exclusives. Also, more expensive. Was these a "dick move"?

Because if yes by that logic, everything that moves is dicks.

The real "dick move" would be to never re-release anything ever.

I think what OS meant was that they should re-release the figures as they were originally with no new paint apps/extras. This is forgetting that people would then complain that they didn't get anything new with the set, as pointed out in a different thread, someone will always complain.

Regardless, I don't think we'll see a boxset soon, but then for all we know, Hasbro could reissue a complete Menasor set in 2024.

From a marketing point of view, splitting Menasor into 5 parts that have to be bought separately, released at different times may raise the chances of someone only wanting Menasor buying more. Or something.

Looks like I'll be swinging by Target tonight after work. Besides Inferno, Tarantulas is the only other Legacy figure I want. Amazon hasn't updated the preorder.

He's the only one I want from this wave as well, although with how distribution has been in the past, probably won't be seeing these in stores near me for 1-3 months after the initial sightings. I'll likely get my Amazon pre-order before I see him in an actual store :-(

Seems it might be the opposite for my Elita One, even though my store takes forever to stock new things in the transformers section. It even shares shelf space with Jurassic World of all things.

If that's the case, that would be unfortunate. However, weren't (most of) the movie Constructicons out already, before Studio Series 69 was announced?

Yes that's basically what I said above.

Randomhero wrote:They won’t announce a box set during the initial run because it will harm the single figure releases

The Combiner Teams from 1985-1990 had gift sets along with the individual bots on shelves at the same time, it didn't seem to hurt sales back then. Also as stated above, TT UW sets were announced either at the same time, or slightly before their Hasbro CW counterparts were on shelves, so informed customers could make a choice and not have to buy both.

william-james88 wrote:This. Plus boxsets in general are essentially the same as any other rerelease or repacks, they are a way for people who don't have the toys to get them. So if people can get the toys, then there is no reason for a boxset. And if people happen to double dip, then even better, though that isn't the primary purpose of a boxset.

While I am in that "Animation Accurate" niche, it is just that, and not enough to warrant a whole reissue I would think, unless they thought they could sucker enough people who bought the first one to purchase it again.

are you seriously gonna use box sets released 32-37 years ago as an example? thats ridiculous. also yes takara announced unite warriors set but not before hasbro's teams were revealed AND thats not worth a comparing those box sets because they all were takara mall exclusives. takaras market back then was and technically still is only in japan. you could import them sure but nobody outside japan was their target audience. They were takara only release of their teams and again, you had to import them. You could not just go to a Walmart or target and pick them up next to the combiner wars figures.

So I got my Motormaster a couple days ago before I had to leave for a work trip. $60 from Target was a good deal too. I have to say, I am enjoying him more than I though I would. The battle station trailer is pretty neat, and the robot mode is pretty solid. I also appreciate the work that went into Menasor much more now, it's a very solid mode. The only complaint I have is the Menasor thighs are a bit too short, but otherwise, I like it a lot

Moving onto the wreckers, Hound is really good, and I like his wreckers version so much more than the retail version of Bulkhead. Someone needs to make him a massive minigun setup ASAP.

Springer has some neat alt modes, but I must say that the T30 had more enjoyable alt modes. But these are still interesting at least.

Metroplex continues to be a wonderful thing. He is spectacular. And I must now admit, yes, i think he actually beats Jhiaxus as the best figure in the line.

About half the line were. Five were mass retail releases while the other six were TTM exclusives.

Yup, and luckily, Computron was not one of the exclusive ones
