The comic takes place during Transformers: The Movie. Specifically, between the scene where the Sweeps tear apart Ultra Magnus(oh, um, spoiler alert?) and the scene where Hot Rod and Kup land on the Planet of Junk. The comic uses a mix between G1 and Classics/Universe designs for the characters. Tracks and Grapple make an appearance, although Tracks isn't named specifically. Instead he is referred to as Warpath in one panel and Lugnut in another panel. Don't eat too many Energon Goodies kids! They make you forget your name!
Rodimus: He's here in a G1 cartoon accurate paint job with this set. Identical to the Challenge At Cybertron Rodimus except for the rubsign. This version is pictured with the Fansproject Protector Armor in vehicle mode to show what it looks like with the rubsign. In robot mode, the rubsign is covered by the armor, so it looks the same as the Challenge At Cybertron Rodimus. There are also group shots of all the figures who share the Rodimus mold in the gallery.
Cyclonus: He's here in a lighter than Universe, darker than Henkei paint scheme identical to the Challenge At Cybertron Cyclonus except for the rubsign. Which version of the figure is the most G1 accurate is still a debate. The Cyclonus gallery also contains many images from the comic that comes with the Battle In Space set.
Nightstick: He is identical to the Challenge At Cybertron Nightstick except that his face is a different shade of gold/yellow than the Challenge At Cybertron set(you expected me to say rubsign didn't you?).

It was solicited in the November Previews, so maybe it'll hit comic stores, too.
And speaking of that...is it too late for me to order it?

Is that supposed to mean that it won't hit mass retail? It would seem like a lost opportunity for Hasbro not to. Can anyone actually 100% confirm anything at this point or have we still not heard enough?

I don't know. I seem to remember reading somewhere a statement from Hasbro that it wasn't going to be released in retail, but that was before I saw it in the Previews.

Haven't you heard? Sighted in stores like Walmart and Target.

Alright, that's a good sign. Now all I have to do is wait for some Canadian sightings and I'll be happy. I'm still angry that Canadians never got Classics Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp. Too bad Hasbro couldn't make a fresh batch of them and ship them out as well (as well as Astrotrain in cartoon colours while they're at it).
Edit: Well, it wasn't reported in the Sightings section. http://www.seibertron.com/sightings/item/battle-in-space-rodimus-vs-cyclonus/1288

I haven't heard. Where was this?

I also wonder if FansProject might release an additional batch of the armor with the reds matched to the newer versions, as well as with yellow spoiler-ish parts?
(Generally speaking, I have two of each Transformer I display, one to display in each mode. I ended up having to get three Classics Ultra Magnus figures to properly display the City Commander armor; to do this right for Rodimus & the Protector armor I'll need a total of four figures. Until the Battle in Space version appeared, I was resigned to having two Classics and two Henkei, but was hoping Battle in Space might let me ecomozie somewhat, even though I absolutely despise the painted window.)

It's funny how often I hear comments similar to this. I'm the only photographer on Seibertron.com. These toys are all from my collection.
metaphorge wrote:do the color differences between the reds on the Protector armor and the Battle in Space Rodimus appear as pronounced in person as it does in the photographs? I was hoping to get away with displaying at least my robot mode Protector using the Battle in Space version.
The set is obviously designed to work in conjunction with Classics and Henkei Rodimus (assuming you get the Sidearm add-on set). However, I personally think it looks fine on the Universe/RTS Rodimus figure. I'll be using Universe Rodimus for this armor in future galleries and to leave on display in my "Transformers workshop".

I can't imagine that they will, but maybe they will in a future reissue of the set.

I initially said "a question mostly to Seibertron" but decided to change it in case you were no longer the sole photographer for the site.
Additionally, allow me to express just how much I appreciate the galleries here. They have been invaluable in buying decisions I've made for my collection.

Also, G1 Lugnut!
And on that note why couldn't anyone get Tracks's name right?!

Looks a lot like the Legends version to me:

I can see the similarities, but it still begs the question of why this design was chosen where everyone else who isn't getting/hasn't gotten a new toy in recent times are using slightly stylized G1 character models. Why would Warpath be the exception?
Edit: I just remembered that Bumblebee is planed to have a new release here eventually, so the fact he's drawn in his old model just serves to confuse even more...

Maybe if you're lucky, Boo will stop into the thread and give reasoning for why he choose which versions he did.

Two things:
One, I'm really curious as to how you display your toys. I know you make so many galleries as it is, but I think you should consider making a Seibertron collection thread in the Collection forum.
Two, the collections forum is hard to find (I know this is a point that's more suited for... wait, do we have a suggestions forum?). Is it possible we can have the Collection forum on the left sidebar, and/or maybe listed right below the third-party KO toys forum? As it stands, the Collections forum is a sad little place.

Just so you know, the spill above is from my post that Seibertron was responding to, and is talking about how I display my collection. It showed up like this because of a small formatting error.
I could share info on how I display, but I also have a small, tightly focused collection so I don't know how helpful you'll find it.

You know who's got one of the coolest displays is diablien, the owner of Collecticon.org. His displays are by character (Starscream, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Shockwave, Devastator, and possibly a few others if I recall correctly). It looks really awesome that way because it's pretty much by color.
I wish I had my stuff on display. My basement / Seibertron.com workshop looks like a storage facility gone crazy ... I've been so busy during the past two months with galleries that I haven't done a great job of keeping up with putting stuff away. I feel like it's starting to look like I'm a Transformer hoarder. Aaaarrrgghhh!!!!

Yeah, I totally jumped in halfway through this conversation and missed that detail.
Post your collection if you feel like it, I'm not going to twist your arm behind your back. But we do have a sweet collections forum if you ever feel like sharing

That's the first I've heard of this being sighted at retail stores, though I'm sure it will be showing up at stores soon. Amazon.com and BBTS.com are the only places I'm aware of that have gotten this item in stock so far. If someone can verify that they've seen it elsewhere, I'd love to see some sightings reported on Seibertron.com.

Not in my opinion, the yellow is too light, though the red is probably a closer match. If someone was ambitious and took the yellow spoiler from the Classics version and replaced it on the the Universe/RTS version then I'd think you'd have a much closer match.

I'm rather curious about what's behind them. That is, if these figures received the very same paint treatments as the Challenge At Cybertron ones, those rubsigns are obscuring some perfectly decent-looking faction symbols.

I pray to God they don't make it a Target exclusive; my local Target is heavily unreliable and uncaring when it comes to their TF Exclusives. Like the time I was trying to look for Universe/ROTF Bruticus, they had Superion (like 3 or 4), but sadly, no Bruticus. The other exclusive I really wanted to get but sadly my Target store decided to not care about the small children was the Universe Wreckers 2-Pack, Springer Vs. Ratbat. I even asked them about these two, but they keep saying that they even though they'll get like 50 more Bruticuses in the next 2 days, 3 days later, not one Bruticus or Superion. Just goes to show that even when it's not Christmas, Santa will make sure you don't get what you want for Christmas.
