1. Out of the nine figure designs, only one will see the light of day.
2. The voting is rigged, and only the "winner" is being designed.

The votings are not rigged stop this misconception.

I never implied that. I merely stated that, given what we know, rigging (which I personally don't believe) is one of two possible explanations.Deadput wrote:Autobot N wrote:2. The voting is rigged, and only the "winner" is being designed.

Honestly there isn't really a good way to tell if they're rigged or not. Rigged or not, this is a very odd selection of characters, and even odder that there's really not much context to them. Like I'm not even sure where to begin on how odd this cast is from both a toys and comics perspective.

Honor - Hound, Arcee, Primal
Order - Magnus, Megatron, Shockwave
Chaos - Star Saber, Thunderwing, Deathsaurus(?)

Takara does not do the same things as Hasbro it's not god damned rigged and nobody in the right state of mind should be thinking it is it's a damn toyline why would anyone waste time rigging some stupid online contest?
Also he has never been part of IDW but if he wins this (which I hope to god it does not so it doesn't ruin him) he probably would be introduced.

He never was. But neither was Windblade or Victorion.
If he wins, and IDW has to advertise that, they'll just add him. I wouldn't mind seeing more BW characters in the series honestly

Meanwhile, Takara made a new MP Star Saber two years ago that, like MP Primal, Hasbro has thus far ignored. And Hasbro is making a new mold Black Shadow toy, whose original 1989 toy was a retool of Thunderwing. And Deathsaurus is already one of the rumors for Titans Return. So the possibilities aren't quite as obvious as you think they are.Malicron wrote:Hmm, first Takara makes an brand new mold of Optimus Primal, and now he's one of the possible choices to receive a new Hasbro figure? AND WHY ARE THEIR DECEPTICONS ON THIS LIST?
Their have been bad Primes in the past yes but there has never and I mean never been a Decepticon Prime besides Nemesis which in most cases is not a true prime and is just a clone of Optimus.
There is nothing stopping the Prime from becoming one later but don't anyone think that someone who has been a Decepticon since forever suddenly becoming a Prime is a bit absurd even if they become good suddenly and out of the blue?
"I always wanted Shockwave to become a Prime since I was a kid because we all know it was an important and frequently brought up part of his character it only makes so much sense guys he is of course the perfect contender it's so logical!"

Swap Deathsaurus with Arcee, and you've got IDW. Deathsaurus is shown to have a very high sense of honor, whereas Arcee is very much a "killing for fun" kind of lady. She's toned it down a bit recently, but her battle style is still very aggressive.Twitchythe3rd wrote:If we assume this goes off of IDW characterizations:

Apparently you're under some unprecendented impression that the Prime rank of IDW is some kind of Autobot-exclusive title and not instead a title that refer to Cybertron as a whole. The war is long over. The old military factions have no need anymore. Even before the war broke out was the Prime rank a title for Cybertronian authority rather than specifically for the Autobot faction.Deadput wrote:If most of these characters win this it would their characters outside of Ultra Magnus and Star saber none of these contenders make any darn sense to become Prime

Sabr this foremost applies to the future toyline like the other votes Windblade and Victorion were only added to IDW to promote their toys not the otherway around.

A: Dear Chosen Castigator,
It is rare, but it has been known to happen. Thunderwing was chosen in Primax 984.0 Gamma when the Matrix became corrupted.

The winner will be revealed in February. This doesn't necessarily mean that their toy will be revealed that day. Like how they announced Trypticon won the last poll, but they still haven't shown his toy. So nothing rigged if it's like the last poll.

Sabr I recall that the Matrix was corrupted in the comics and Thunderwing is no Prime he is a pretender literately.
That was the Autobot matrix in that continuity anyways.

Regardless, if the figure is to come out in 2018, and it will be revealed in early 2017, then some work will had to have been done on all of them, as the development cycle of a TF figure is about 2 years.Erimus Prime wrote:Autobot N wrote:Notice that the voting starts in January and the reveal is in February. This is for the IDW universe, where the matrix has nothing to do with the Autobots at all. So it being the Autobot Matrix of leadership in G1 is irrelevant here.

Why can't it be the Matrix being corrupted like with Thunderwing in Marvel?
Why can't it be the Decepticon stealing the matrix and touting it around like with Starscream in IDW?
Why can't it be anything else that would land them with the matrix other than the matrix choosing them?
If the poll chooses a 'con, there'll be some reasoning for it in-story.

Because unless chosen in a natural matter they will become a fake Prime they are a fake pretender throwing the word Prime around and it is a disgrace for them to be on the same plain as true Primes such as Optimus or Rodimus.
The IDW adds the results from the toyline this vote is from not the other way around so forget about IDW which is not as grand as everyone says it is since it's becoming worse and worse ever since season 2 of the current series of comics began.
The point of this contest/vote will be lost if the results do not give a true prime and just some guy claiming to be one.

And, furthermore, why are people even bringing up the Matrix in this anyway? Did no one read the press release on the first page of this thread? Cuz it clearly says:
The Matrix isn't the one doing the picking here. WE are. Us fans are the ones who get to decide. Our vote transcends any say that the Matrix has in this. It's our vote, not the Matrix's. I don't particularly see the problem with that, if anything IDW keeps getting better (Windblade's series in particular has seen a massive surge in quality), and I'd find it far more interesting to get a Decepticon Prime rather than just another Autobot Prime. I really don't see what would be interesting about Magnus or Hound as Prime - and especially not Star Saber. Megatron or Deathsaurus would be extremely interesting.
Besides, we're voting for the leader of Cybertron. Not the leader of the Autobots. Hence it's pretty much implied that we're voting in a post-war scenario. And who knows? Maybe the Matrix does sense something in Megatron. Something that could help lead the planet into prosperity that was lost in the war but perhaps could be rekindled.
I'm not saying this would happen, but that's the point - we don't know how this'll unfold. So I think it's a bit ridiculous to be making judgements now that they'll be a fake Prime or whatever. We'll just have to see

Literally a list like this would make more sense
Hound
Prowl
Jazz
Bumblebee
Ironhide
Blaster
Jetfire
Springer
Hell add Drift in there why not heck if a different version of Smokescreen almost became a Prime.
And why is Springer himself not on this list even in IDW Springer keeps being mentioned as Matrix compatible.

The only con on this list that could live up to the Prime name is Deathasaurs.
Only Autobots or neutrals have been Primes because Prime is a name usually associated with good characters not including those corrupt Primes from the past in IDW who were not even real Primes
A bad guy is not a real Prime Shockwave is not a Prime, Megatron is not a real Prime, Thunderwing is not a real Prime, and Deathsaurus is not a real Prime even if he has shown to care about his comrades he is part of the evil Decepticons.
Decepticons are the bad guys and I have had enough of evil bad guy Primes and would mean Optimus or Rodimus can be the only good Primes to exist.
It's like making Trump or Hilary the Presidant just because their the leader of Cybertron as a whole and not either faction doesn't matter they would be fake people lying about being a Prime

I did not realize that us fans are actually characters in the story who decide who is the god damn Prime unlike what has happened otherwise when other true Primes have been chosen by the Matrix.
It's cool lets ignore the thing that knights the Primes from the story because it's obvious in the story these guys are just going to be voted as a fake.
