There is a lot going on in the Transformers Studio Series line. So much that it calls for a quick fire round up. Here is all you need to get up to speed on what's new.

The latest wave of deluxes and voyagers (scheduled for a January 2019 release) have been found. Not in the US yet, but we have reports of them in Taiwan. The wave includes WWII Bumblebee, DOTM Sideswipe, Bonecrusher and the new Optimus Prime that can combine with leader Jetfire.

Regarding that new Prime, we have images showing how it compares to the previous Optimus Prime released in the line and it is far from just having slightly different tooling and colours. It actually looks to have a totally different transformation for the torso, especially in terms of where a lot of kibble ends up in the back. The pictures were posted on the TFND Facebook page (along with the sighting above).

We also have our first in hand images of Rampage, a voyager coming later next year. He is movie accurate in the best and worst ways possible as you will see. Please remember that it does seem like the threads can become whips and there may have been some sacrificing to have a combining movie Devastator. The pictures were found on Instagram.

Also we have three new reviews from PrimevsPrime showing us the upcoming deluxe Barricade, WWII Bee and Sideswipe.

I'm really struggling to find parts in common between the two Primes. Feet, gray shins, pelvis, and maybe the head. It's definitely more than just a new chest like we initially thought.

So after seeing the Bumblebee movie yesterday, I've come to the conclusion that we need a shit ton more figures from this movie in the SS line. Starting with a new Dropkick.

That movie was INCREDIBLE. It was a nice mix of E.T and The Love Bug, plus all the bots were classic looking. Seriously, many designs on Cybertron need to be made into the SS series. I'd go nut for that movieverse Arcee who don't look like an aborted shrimp.

I need an SS Blitzwing after seeing the movie, A Jeep Bumblebee that doesn’t use SS-18’s engineering would be cool too (and, of course, the other modes for Shatter and Dropkick), but I think that’s pretty much it in terms of figures I want in SS. I’d be interested in a Cybertronian Bumblebee, but those designs are kind of a rabbit hole I don’t know if I want SS going down. I think siege has the G1-with-greebles thing covered already.

Optimus looks great, my only gripe would be that the back still isn’t quite good, even though it’s leaps and bounds better than the previous Prime.

Rampage is shite though. I understand they sacrificed anything good in order for him to combine, but I loathe ROTF Devastator, so I’m perfectly happy using my ROTF Rampage alongside the new Studio Series Long Haul. I don’t need my Constructicons to combine.

Hopefully they’re able to make Scavenger/Demolisher not suck balls.

Yes please! Dropkick deserves a much better toy than the one he has now. I'd love a seeker mold too. I don't care if it's the Cybertron one or the Blitzwing one, just make a good one and repaint the absolute shit out of it. I will buy them all.

Wasn't really expecting to pick up any of the Constructicons, but damn if that Rampage isn't all kinds of hot & sexy robot.

Accurate to the movie I guess, kinda wish there was some articulation to the tail but it definitely looks more like the movie character then Mr. "I'm not a centaur honest"

Does he turn into a hand for devesator again or a leg? I'm thinking it would be awesome to try and get that form as a leg to gave pirate devesator

Leg.

Though, the one in the movie who formed the leg was yellow, while the red one was off busy fighting and being killed by Bumblebee. Then again, since only the red one who didn't combine was specifically identified as Rampage in the movie, if they do eventually make a yellow version later, he could always be given the name and identity of Skipjack.

I agree but only on the bots on Cybertron. Because I want them all ;)^

Unless I'm mistaken, didn't Bee's cybertronian alt-mode make the WfC/FoC games pretty closely.

I'd only want new Dropkick and Shatter molds if they're full on triple-changers, but I know that's a tall order. They were good bad guys but I didn't find them all that interesting.

I really hope some or all those TRUE Cybertronian designs from the Bee Movie to make it into the SS line.

But I know they won't happen because it would enter direct competition with the current Generations Cybertron Trilogy.

I don't know, we're kinda chumps. I know I'd buy both. The Cybertronian OP in the SS line proves there a possibility. Oddly enough I want him more than the Siege Prime.

No, we f***ing don't. Studio Series was the only Transformers toyline I actually enjoyed to collect and now it's threatening to start to turning into yet another boring G1 update line like we've had countless times before with the appearance of that bricky-looking G1 Prime (which doesn't look even half as good as the update of the real movie Prime. Goddamn, yet another reason why I wish that dumb idiotic unoriginal sloppily written movie had been a total reboot so it could be separate from this and all it's toys could go under a separate movie line. Don't even much like having my TWO (yellow and gold) VW Bees on that shelf anymore. If I want Transformers resembling the G1 characters I'd bloody well buy stuff from PotP, Siege and so on. But I don't cos those tired bricky designs don't appeal to me. Hell, most of them didn't do it for me even when I was a kid in the 80s.

And 'TRUE Cybertronian' designs? What the hell's that supposed to mean? This movie has really made a total mess of things. So all the movie characters I've loved the designs of for the past ten years are supposed to have originally looked like their G1 counterparts that I dislike? Gee thanks Travis Knight, you dick...

Don't bloody buy those toys then problem solved, whoopity doo things that you don't like exist, why you raining down on those who do want toys of those designs?

The answer to things is coexisting, not crusading to get rid of something.

Easy there cowboy. Your opinion of this film, I'm sorry to say, is in the vast minority. The SS line is for movie figures, and we have a whole new batch of movie characters to get figures.

If they can make the worthless Stinger, Grimlock, and Lockdown, they can make Wheeljack, Brawn, and a good Shockwave.

Oh yeah sure he has. That's why instead of making a film centered around a war between many giant shape shifting robots which is..ya know...the point of the frickin' toyline...he just mashed a bunch of old films together such as Short Circuit and frickin' Love Bug. It's such shallow, obnoxious, feeble-minded nostalgia-bait. Quick the audience might forget it's the 80s apparently so chuck on another track of 80s greatest hits before they forget.

Poor Bumblebee. Reduced to a goddamn puppy for most of his supposedly own solo film. Also weird that Charlie doesn't even seem bothered when he briefly turns into MurderBee (why did he have decepticon eyes?)

I can't even, go read or watch an interview with the guy in it.

Hell having watched his other films I know for a fact that he has a lot of passion for fictional characters which helps that he does the claymation stuff.

Bumblebee has always been a "puppy" in the movies, just one that could also murder things like a rabid dog, also had the actual depth of a puddle in the Bay films compared to how emotive and full of life he is in Bumblebee.

Such bullcrap. He was seen to be playful a few times sure but he was never as dumbed down as the worthless piece of crap he's stuck as for much of his screen time here (oh god that beach scene was so painfully bad... the house bit wasn't much better either). And he had plenty of that so called 'emotion' in those too but I guess you needed all the fake tears on Charlie's to sell it those really 'emotional' bits straight out of the ol' spielbergian textbooks about dead dads and having to the trauma by doing something 'amazing' that really isn't as important to the plot as it thinks it might be and so is just a waste of everybodys time. To be fair she was alright at times and wasn't the most blatant overactor. Obviously that goes to Cena who was clearly playing an actual cartoon character in a live action film rather than a realistic soldier (Made me very much miss folk like Lennox or Epps)

Yo Carnivius, I don't think you really need to worry too much about the Bee movie toys taking over the Studio Series line. There are PLENTY of Bayverse bots left they can, and most likely will make toys of. I'm guessing you are still gonna have plenty of fun with the line for a good long while.

Also, all, this conversation really feels like it would be better had in the actual Bee Movie thread. Lets keep this thread about toys, and take opinions and talk about the movie, it's story, and it's creators over to the appropriate topic.

Thanks! ;)^

I'm making a point about opinions. I don't like those SS figures, yet you do. Does that make them stupid worthless trash? No. Look, I'm sorry you don't like the Bumblebee movie, I really am, because its the best Transformer movie out of them all.

I'm very, very tired of the bayverse and I won't pretend otherwise because it upsets you. I loved this movie, and I'm very much hoping we get more toys of the characters in it, and that we get a new line of movies, erasing the previous bayfilms from continuity. Probably won't happen, but I'm hoping.

This is a franchise based off a children's cartoon and toyline for children, heaven forbid that they actually start making movies for children with heart again instead of heartless juvenile garbage that rots the brain.

This movie might have been a waste of "your" time but that's just it, "your" time that doesn't apply to the people who enjoyed the film so those people's time wasn't wasted.

At least I can say the human scenes in Bumblebee mattered a lot more then whatever the hell went on in the Bay movies like over sexualized attempts at getting the girl or Sam's mom eating pot brownies

Lennox was human sandpaper outside of the first movie, nothing about him in ROTF, DOTM or TLK stood out so I'll take hammy and entertaining Agent Burns over him thank you, Epps was fine but he was just sort of there and didn't contribute to the plot much besides getting Sam to Chicago in DOTM.

I'm getting off course, point is just because you didn't like the film doesn't mean that you should go around saying that the film is absolute garbage and crapping on the opinions of anyone that liked it.

As well as insulting and accusing the director of the movie of being "fake" or being this so called "destroyer" of this "well crafted" continuity.

I don't think Micheal Bay himself cares anywhere as much as you do, in fact he was a consultant for Knight for the Bumblebee movie so what does that say about him?

I still wonder if Rampage could be fan-moded to give Devesator a peg leg...

@cary no problem ;)^ we all get caught out

Ah whoops I completely missed your second part in your post about the convo, I'll stop now.

I think the Cybertronian designs can work for Studio Series as long as their releases are mixed in with the Bay film stuff.

Don't like the G1 Cybertron designs?

Don't buy figures of them like people who don't like Bay designs and don't buy the figures from their toylines.

Are there though? Most of the best ones been done by now or have good enough figures from a previous line (like TLK Megatron prob don't need an update).

I was quite happily collecting Studio Series as the first collection I would ever fully complete. Not bloody likely now.

Also what was the point of the Camaro Bee with the add on parts and a Charlie mini-figure if NONE of that happened in the film and she only saw him as a camaro for like 3 seconds? They could have put her figure with VW Bee... but that would just be.. ya know...logical... Which Transformers has a real hard time of being.

Deadput wrote:This is a franchise based off a children's cartoon and toyline for children, heaven forbid that they actually start making movies for children with heart again instead of heartless juvenile garbage that rots the brain.

Based on a poorly made cartoon with idiotic plots, a decent comic and toyline. And movies can have heart when it feels genuine. Problem is so many people don't get how to write that stuff properly so you end up with hamfisted, attempts like half this movie where they may as well just put up a big sign saying "CRY NOW!".

At least I can say the human scenes in Bumblebee mattered a lot more then whatever the hell went on in the Bay movies like over sexualized attempts at getting the girl or Sam's mom eating pot brownies

Hey i don't care much for crude humour but the human scenes in this film felt so padded out to the point of ridiculousness. At least for a love interest Mikaela was pretty badass (driving the legless Bee about in the pick up truck in the middle of battle). I can't even remember what the point of not-really-love-interest-so-kinda-worthless-to-plot-the-nerd-who-doesnt-look-like-a-nerd-in-the-80s-was or any of. Charlie's mum was... ok. Frustrating but almost realistic? The kid brother was an unlikable brat and Ron? Oh god he was a piece of garbage.

Yeah I wanted more Lennox stuff in the other films but he'd had enough to build him up as a character in the first one and I believed in him and he fit the world he was in. Cena wasn't entertaining at all and just stood out like the crappy WWE superstart that he is, desperately wanting The Rock's movie career but lacking any of the charisma and acting chops to do so. He dragged every scene he was in to some weird parody... it was really off putting.

But overall you're missing the point of my main complaint about the Studio Series. I bloody love this toyline. I do not like Siege or other G1 update lines and to see it taken over by G1 looking bots pretty much messes up the one actual collection I was quite happy to be giving what little money I have over for. Because yep, us Bayverse fans are being forced out of our part of the fandom with the movie aesthetics being written over with G1 stuff cos the G1 folk whined like frickin' crazy for the past ten years so maybe if I do the same for the next ten I'll get more of what I like instead except I don't have any other lines to keep myself occupied with til then like the G1 folk have constantly had so wow... this will be tough...

I forgot what my original reason for coming back into this was.... oh.. .yeah the backpack on the revised Prime. Sticks out a bit much more than I'd like but eh overall the figure is an improvement. Just needs better paint and toyhax stickers. Yeah. Ok i'm done. I need my meds. Christmas day is the worst day of the year for me anyways... Enjoy any cool stuffs you get!

There are also listings for a different and separate Studio Series Drift. I presume it's either a redo on Aoe Drift or it's a proper helicopter Drit (Which I guess also counts as a redo on AOE Drift itself)

You'd have to talk to Ferrari first to get the licence I'm afraid, that's the problem with licenced alts, you are stuck at the whims of the manufacturer.

Yes. I absolutely hate all of Drifts previous toys, but like the movie design of the character.

Damn, I forgot about him. Yes, add him to the list. I was excited for the 3rd party figure of him, then super pissed/dissapointed when it turned out to be a flimsy piece of junk.

DotM Soundwave, is that the same as the human alliance design? I have the movie the best version and it's nice but could be a little more streamlined. I'm up for as many Soundwaves as they'll give me.

I wouldn't mind some WWII stuff for giggles, but mostly that cray tank.

The only thing I'd change on TLK Hot Rod would be his feet. Gimme some VDub Bee boots! I don't like robotoes.

I'd like a good Hound as well. Wasn't the last one supposed to aight? And this would be the only toy I'd want a sound chip in. Because Dan Goodman.

Drift has a second (or third depending on how you count) coming with baby dinos.

But if I only had one wish, pre-earth please and thank you!

I'm only going to address this since it's toy related but there is a simple answer to your problem.

*Don't buy them*

Just don't, buy something else or save your money for the next toy or whatever other thing you want hey?

Poor Bumblebee. Reduced to a goddamn puppy for most of his supposedly own solo film. Also weird that Charlie doesn't even seem bothered when he briefly turns into MurderBee (why did he have decepticon eyes?)

I actually have a theory about the red MurderBee eyes. What if there's some kind of intense battle mode the Cybertronians have, and it switches their optics from blue to red? They all have it, but the Decepticons are in that mode constently and the Autobots maybe don't like using it because it's too violent, or it subdues emotions and can be dangerous or something. Might be a cool idea and have a reason for two separate war factions to be distinguished by eye color.

On topic, after seeing Bumblebee last night I REALLY want that new Optimus Prime with his new design, along with the new updated one from the first movie. I'm excited to display them side by side and honestly even though it would be expensive it might be cool to see both those figures in a 2 pack similar to the "Then & Now" Bumblebee one. I'm also very excited for Shatter, she was awesome and slightly terrifying. Hope we get a figure with her face exposed, the way her mouth moved was really interesting.

Shatter, the femme fatale... literally!

I also do want a figure of her in her dope muscle car mode. I just hope she will not be a bloody "ninja-turtle" like most deluxe movie car-bot toys.

I can't wait to see better images of this Optimus. This is my favorite Optimus design by far. Just absolutely love the way his mouth plate moved when he spoke, just like the original cartoon. And lord, that truck mode is sexy af. Hope they come out with a trailer for him, or at least hope the DotM leader set comes with a compatible trailer.

I'm sorry you feel that way, I think there's enough of her chassis on her that her turtle shell will be quite small; but, you do you I guess

Merry Christmas all Seibertronians!

With tidings of good cheer we also bring you news, couresty of fellow Seibertron user, Nemesis Primal, that a couple of new Studio Series toy reviews have been uploaded to YouTube! The first comes to us via YouTuber TonTon Reviews. The review is one that has been long awaited, and that is a video review of Jet Power Optimus Prime, the combined form of soon to be released #32 2007 Optimus Prime and #35 Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire. This combination is seen at the end of the Revenge of the Fallen movie as Jetfire gives his spark up so that Optimus can use his parts to power up to battle the Fallen.

TonTon Reviews - Jet Power Optimus Prime

For this second and third reviews, we turn to non-English speaking Kevin Liu, who provides his own review of Jet Power Optimus Prime, but of more interest is his review of #34 Dark of the Moon Megatron! His toy is leader Class and comes with an Igor minifigure. Whereas his old Voyager class toy had a moulded cowl to hide his damaged parts, this one uses a fabric one instead.

Please note that these following reviews are not in English.

Kevin Liu - #34 Dark of the Moon Megatron

UPDATE:

Thanks to fellow Seibertron user, EvasionModeBumblebee, we've learned that YouTuber Kevin Liu has put out a new video as an add on to his Jet Power Optimus Prime review, showing that the left over piece of Jetfire's torso can be turned into a big cannon for Prime to wield. Check out the additional video below.

Are you looking forward to these toys? Do you think this version of Jet Power Optimus Prime is better then the previous attempt? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews.
