Transformers X Stranger Things Crossover Code Red Revealed

This looks cool!
Also I feel that there is very little off limits when it comes to Transformers and crossovers.

I've never seen the show, but that figure looks WAY better than most of the Collaborative figures with vehicle modes.

Well that's completely unexpected.

Somewhat retooled SS-86 Ironhide with Earthrise Ironhide feet and legs?

Ohh, and a licensed VW Bus alt mode.

This looks pretty good, wouldn't have expected it!
Might pick it up, I do like the engineering done for SS86 Ironhide

The price is ludicrous, as expected, but if the thing comes on sale, I'd be down for it.

This looks to share no parts with any Ironhide/Ratchet. It shares some similar transformation aspects from the core class though with just a few adjustments like the bumper not rotating to the back when the legs twist around, the lower legs being rotated outward so that the shin flaps and wheels are on the outside of the legs and the shoulders being attached to the back kibble instead of the chest. Also there are actual feet now unlike the core figure.

The wheels are pinned and the front wheels are attached to the side leg flaps. The hands are on ball pegs. The forearm cavities are on the sides instead of the backs of the arms. The shoulder assemblies are located on the back kibble. The arms don't form any bit of the vehicle mode. The feet work differently from the Siege mold as they hide on the inside of the van now instead of becoming the rear of the van. The feet also have small pieces of the rear windshield. There are double tabs on the sides of the thighs for the leg flaps to peg onto. No 5mm ports on the side leg flaps, shoulders or forearms. The pelvis also looks to be longer and thinner. The elbows/biceps are shorter. The side windows are on the backpack instead of moving to the lower legs.

So it's actually a new mold as far as I can tell from the two pictures. It looks good. I like the weapons.

I assume the head is supposed to look like he's wearing Eleven's... cerebro... psyker... hood... thing, right? And one of the weapons is supposed to look like Steve's baseball bat?

The hinges are the dead giveaway that it's not even close to being the same. The hinge parts are on different sides completely. On both the Siege and SS86 molds the lower leg has the two outside hinge pieces and the flap has the central piece. On this, they're on the opposite sides. Meaning new parts entirely.

The lower legs on SS86 Ironhide are completely different otherwise. No hollow parts on the inside and the way the knees work and how the upper legs are attached are completely different as well. Not to mention how the feet attach and work.

The legs on this are most similar to the Siege mold but again, the wheels are pinned in. In order for that to work, the legs would need to be new parts entirely which they are as again, the hinges are different. The tabs and ports are on the opposite sides as well.

Even the feet and how they work are different. There's a double hinge on the sides of the feet of this figure as they flip all the way around to the inside of the legs for transformation. The SS86 mold has the hinges on the backs of the feet. The Siege mold has them on the sides but the hinges are much thinner and the feet themselves don't have enough room to rotate around 270 degrees as they lack the double hinge and the lower legs and vehicle flaps lack the space needed to store the feet inside the van.

I wonder if there's any connection between this and Wheeljack in ROTB both being VW microbuses.

This is what I imagined an Alternators Ironhide would have been like but way less awkward and clunky.

Not the crossover I was expecting! Though I'm not particularly interested, this set just continues to show the ultra-versatility of what a transformer can be. I mean, I wasn't expecting this or a SECOND Jurassic Park set, so I continue to stand corrected.

Since it seems like the scope of Collaborative is expanding, I will once again put in my hopes for a TF X Aliens. Lots of sci-fi vehicles there.

Stranger Things is one of the most popular shows of the past decade and it's set in the 80s, so it makes perfect sense to me.

Probably gonna be a bit until we get Fortress Maximus as the USS Enterprise, maybe sales of these collab figures will help fund that budget

It's pretty central, actually. That whole fictional franchise plays a big role. If they wanted to do a crossover I can't think of a better vehicle. You could go for a more generic 80s vehicle I guess, but this works extremely well when they don't really have an iconic vehicle to work with.

I mean, if we're talking about vehicles we'd rather see, I'd like to see the 89 Bat Mobile, Party Wagon, and Enterprise myself, but I'm a fan of Stranger things. I like what I'm seeing here.

Plus Ultra Magnus did make an appearance, which triggered many fanboys because that particular episode was set in the year prior to his actual release.

I guess Stranger Things is currently more relevant than Toy Story - I mean I haven't really watched ST beyond the first season, but I think it makes more sense to choose a ST crossover than a TS one right now.
Would be funny if we did get a Pizza Planet truck later though, I'd love to have the two be business rivals!

Pretty good lookin figure, but I dunno if this was a crossover anyone was looking for. Maybe it's just me but This doesn't feel like super iconic vehicle to get this kind of treatment.

As has been said, Stranger Things is one of the biggest shows in recent years (one themed entirely around 1980s nostalgia, no less), and there's really no other vehicle choice from that show to make into a Transformer besides this one, which featured heavily in the most recent season as of this typing.

I got my Code Red in. He is actually a pretty decent figure. I like how tall he ends up being, and his VW pizza van mode is cool. I like him, especially that face sculpt and pizza sign cannon with pizza box clip.

I ultimately set him with the Ghostbusters, felt like he belonged there, along with a few other solo outcasts of mine

I am actually really enjoying Code Red. I like the creativity here, and he is proving to be a fun figure. Definitely one of the better quality crossover figures
