Thanks to Snakasblog and tontonreviews, we have a new video review and in-hand images for the upcoming Transformers Studio Series WWII Hot Rod!
Hot Rod is a retool of WWII Bumblebee, sporting a new chest, shoulders, head, and weapon. The new tooling brings the figure closer to his appearance in the World War II flashback from The Last Knight movie, though the alt mode is left with the same tooling as Bumblebee, leaving neither looking like their WWII alternate modes. Hot Rod also comes with a new accessory in the form of his Time Gun, which plugs into the top of the car mode, which sadly leaves a gap in the windshield area where Bumblebee's hammer would go.
Hot Rod is due out in January of 2020, where you can then pair him up with his fellow Nazi Hunter Bumblebee, forming a deadly pair.

This really doesn't sell anything specific nor does it seek to convert people to one side of the fandom or the other, but anyone who's reading this has that same passion for Transformers we all have. Thanks to an update from the Transformers Official YouTube page we have a cool Friday treat for you disciples of Unicron out there. In this short video you get to see the breakdowns and making-of the official poster for the HasLab Unicron project done by none other than Marcelo Matere!
Here's the word from Hasbro on Unicron: "UNICRON stands alone as the most menacing figure in TRANSFORMERS lore, capable of devouring entire worlds and civilizations. Fellow Seibertronian bacem has informed us of new images for next year's first two leader class toys in the Transformers Studio Series line. They are leader Shockwave and Scavenger. We previously had renders but these are stock images of the actual toys in their final deco. We see them both in their boxes and in their different modes, though the angle for Shockwave's alt mode is rather unflattering. Sadly, we do not have a good sense of their scale yet, which is rather important since the leader class has been all over the place in this line. It's still not clear just how big Scavenger is compared to his fellow movie Constructicons.
Both are due out early next year at wide retail at the standard $50 USD mark. The images come from In Demand Toys on Facebook.

Toysrus Canada has been very odd in 2019. After receiving the initial waves of 2019, going there became rather uneventful. Until now. The Refractor 3 pack with toy accurate Reflector toys is appearing nation wide, even in Quebec even though the box has no french. The latest Cyberverse toys have just arrived as well such as Cyberverse Spark Armour Ratchet and Shockwave. And best of all, MPM Jazz was found in Ontario.
Those were all Toysrus sightings. Cyberverse scout class Scraplet was found at a Real Canadian Superstore in Winnipeg. While Omega Supreme was shipped out to Canadians who preordered him on Toysrus, there has not been any extra stuck to order since.
The sightings are from me as well as Cybertron.ca members C-Spray and Matt McNally.
Mere days after the previous news of the sudden passing of voice actor Michael Lindsay comes the unfortunate news of voice actor Robert Axelrod having passed away yesterday, September 7, 2019, at the age of 70. This news comes to us from Facebook of Mobile Monicker Productions, who represented Axelrod for his many convention appearances. Axelrod is best known for having provided the voices of Lord Zedd, Finster, and other monsters on Power Rangers, as well as several English dub anime voice roles, such as Wizardmon, Vademon, Armadillomon, Ankylomon, and Shakkoumon (w/ Dave Mallow) on Digimon, and Rico on Robotech. He also voiced Marvel Comics character Microchip in the Punisher episodes of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, and appeared in live action on an episode of Family Matters where he played a Paul McCartney lookalike.
For Transformers, he was the voice of Movor in the 2001 Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon. One of the Decepticon Commandos, Movor was the space shuttle member who could form an arm or leg for the combiner Ruination. He was also one of the very few Commandos to star in his own spotlight episode, "Attack from Outer Space", which had the misfortune of being one of the three episodes that was banned from ever airing on TV in the United States due to sensitivities from the September 11 attacks in 2001.
Rest in peace, Mr. Axelrod. Your performances were a treasure to behold.

We're also giving you our interview with the Transformers Brand Team Hasbro's Senior Design Manager John Warden and Hasbro's Marketing Director Ben Montano. Our very own head Seibertronian Ryan Yzquierdo was on the scene to interview the two gentlemen in front of the Unicron prototype itself. But they don't just talk about Unicron, they also discuss the Studio Series and the recent G1 reissues. Here's some highlights from the interview.
- They go over the challenges of converting a sphere like a puzzle into the familiar devourer of worlds, and some of the logistics of the Haslab crowdfunding project.
- They also touch on the prioritization of features focusing on articulation such as in the fingers and eyes in place of electronic light up or sound features.
- They also touch on the vintage G1 reissues such as the Dino cassettes and The Sonic Iconic, everyone's favorite who raves it, Soundwave!
- They remind us that Blaster and Astrotrain are still coming down the tracks so keep your optics focused on those WalMarts Seibertronians.
- John states very seriously about listing Unicron in an official size class, name yet to be determined.
- The Studio Series is also discussed, or the lack thereof. They say they fully intend to continue with the line and wanted to debut some of their newer products but didn't want the SDCC2019 to be too busy given all the other Siege reveals let alone Unicron. They do mention wanting to wait to show the finalized Studio Series Devastator once all the individual toys are finalized and revealed. They talk about how the gestalt mode is not just tall, but deep and extremely bulky. Very much a monster! A very different type of combiner than we've seen before.

That's right fellow Seibertronians after starting the day with a strange glitch that saw the counter dip down to about 1,500 backers (supporters, orders, Unicrons) Haslab Transformers Unicron is ending the day swinging coming in at a combined number of 4,782 backers! The turquois titan is still in the fight but he can't come into full being without your support! We're in his corner and we need to pull for him. There's only five days left to go!
For Fanformers old and new Unicron is the end of all storylines. In many cases he plays a big role in the beginning of them too. All roads in our fandom inevitably lead to conflict with this character because he is thee omega, the end all be all for our favorite heroes and villains to finally come together and defeat what they alone could not manage or muster separately. He has always provided the darkest hour for us to shine our brightest.
And now, like all conflicts againstUnicron, we must band together and fight FOR UNICRON! Know an old friend who might like this? Ask them about Unicron! Below we're re-posting the questions that were recently answered by Haslab about the Unicron project. This open invite was posted to Instagram last week with fans chiming in with their questions about the Chaos Bringer. Our own editor William-James sorted through and wrote them out for you to read:
"Hasbro has just posted a video where the brand team answers questions that were asked regarding their big Unicron. As of right now there are 2,945 backers through pulse but this does not include orders from other channels yet. 8,000 orders are needed for this toy to be produced. Here is a breakdown of what we learn, of course please watch the video to see exactly what was said.
There is currently no intention on extending the deadline.
There are no lights and sounds, conversion was the most important part.
While what we have seen so far is a prototype, it is the best representation of the colour the final toy will have.
The project started over a year and a half ago.
He has six joints in each of the hands with a total of 50 articulation points.
The bot alone is 19 pounds.
He has both 5mm and 3mm ports for integration with the Siege line (and anything else that fits those measures).
