Courtesy of Paramount pictures, we have a new press release covering next year's live-action movie release in the Transformers universe, the first spin-off and first one without Michael Bay at the helm - Bumblebee: The Movie!

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

BUMBLEBEE is produced by “TRANSFORMERS” franchise veterans Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Michael Bay, along with executive producers Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian. Chris Brigham (“ARGO,” “INCEPTION”) will also executive produce. The screenplay is written by Christina Hodson (“UNFORGETTABLE”).

Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian news supplier Scottimus Prime, we have word that the Jada Diecast cars from Transformers: the Last Knight have gone on sale at Target! The particular figure shown here is the 1:32 scale Barricade figure, based on the characters new alt mode see in The Last Knight, and features the 8 barreled cannon that is toy features on the roof. The die cast also includes opening doors and the robot mode design etched into the bottom. The die cast would normally cost $6.99, has been knocked down to $4.88. The figure was found at the Target in Long island, New York.

Amazon.jp has listed several of the Takara version of the Turbo Changers. As word of Takara and Hasbro both discuss "unifying the brands" continues, it is nice to see that some toys coming out in 2018 will indeed be different than the Hasbro versions. Granted, these toys are all for the 2017 film. Regardless, TakaraTomy is taking the Hasbro Knight Armor Changer molds and souping them up by adding more screen accurate paint jobs and better highlights for the Knight Armor pieces to make them stand out better. As the minutes tick by getting us closer to the release of Bumblebee: The Movie early next year, we see more and more news regarding it break. Such is the case today, when ComicBookMovie.com published a brand new interview with the film's director Travis Knight, including a new official promotional image, to boot! You can find the interview below:

I wanted to approach this massive, expansive franchise and really focus in on a tiny corner of the canvas. Everything I've tried to do at Laika, searching for an artful blend of darkness and light, intensity and warmth, humour and heart, I wanted to bring to the Transformers franchise

The upcoming Transformers Film Bumblebee:The Movie finished filming a little while ago, and we now see that the cast and crew are receiving their parting gifts as a thank you for their work. One such member of the team is Rory Markham, who posted on his instagram earlier this week about what he received for filming. In the photo below, he shows off a Bumblebee-branded thermos, shirt, a hat with Bumblebee's face on the front, and what looks like it might be a note from Hailee Steinfeld, the film's star. It's unknown at this time if any of these items will become mass-market items for public purchase, but it's unlikely. Check out the photo he posted below, with his caption.

We have some news from the Japanese side of Transformers: The Last Knight, which saw its home release only just over a week ago in the country, and Takara Tomy's TLK toyline - with a new Cybertron Satellite promotion, according to their official website. It comes down the following: every purchase of over 2000 Yen (approx 17 USD) from the line will give you the option of receiving a metallic file featuring Transformers The Last Knight art, namely Optimus Prime in his knightly pose and a selection of both Autobots and Decepticons featuring in the Paramount live-action movie.

In another interview with actor interpreting the main character of the upcoming live-action Transformers spin-off Bumblebee: The Movie, Hailee Steinfeld talked to Collider about Charlie Watson, her relationship with Bumblebee and to other Transformers movies - in terms of relationships, production, and other aspects of the craft. What is that like going to this huge, big budget…

Steinfeld: It’s not even that. Going from a movie being one of ten females, one of a million cast members to like me and a tennis ball on a stick was quite a shock, but one of the challenges I was willing to accept. It was really incredible. I worked with Travis Knight, who directed [Bumblebee]. It was interesting – with his background in animation, he had a clear end result visually what this film could be. It was nice to have someone who had that because I could use my imagination until the end of the day but it could be something completely different than what they’re thinking. He created these pre-viz for every action sequence that involves the Transformers. I could see it out. He was amazing and the whole experience was really cool. I can’t wait to see it.

How does it compare to other Transformers movies?

Steinfeld: It takes place in the 80s, of course. And it’s very character and storyline driven, which is a bit different, but it still has the elements that Transformers fans love and will see in the movie.

Who do you play?

Steinfeld: I play a character named Charlie Watson, who is a mechanic. She’s in high school… [She’s] incredibly unique and strong and has – something I love about her is that a lot of people tend to underestimate her knowledge and she continuously proves herself and what she knows and creates this incredible relationship with this Transformer.

Is it similar to the relationship Shia LaBeouf had with Bumblebee in Transformers?

Steinfeld: It is in that Bumblebee is the same. He is who he is – that lovable, gentle giant who truly cares. I’m somebody who makes this discovery and is looking for someone to listen to me and to love me and to hear me and that happens to be where he fills the gap.

We have a long and detailed list of most (if not all) of the figures set to be released in the upcoming Transformers Movie Studio Series. This expansive list covers the UPC codes, the product codes, and names of the figures. Some of the characters listed are quite surprising, and some potentially are codenames for other characters, similar to the way the Last Knight toyline was run. Paramount Announces Third GI Joe Movie, Micronauts in 2020 / 2021

It's been a very long while since we heard anything about Paramount's shared live-action cinematic universe - which would expand the mythology surrounding Transformers to other franchises, much like is currently happening in IDW comics (since Revolution and more recently First Strike) - but we now have something happening on the horizon.

According to entertainment online outlet Deadline, 2020 will see the arrival of the third instalment of the GI Joe series, after Rise of Cobra and Retaliation, and the first feature for Micronauts, with a third unnamed project for the following year. The long-awaited third G.I. Joe will march into multiplexes on March 27, 2020. Lorenzo di Bonaventura produced the last two movies G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation based off the Hasbro toyline/Marvel published Comic-Book which both grossed in total over $678M at the global box office.

The feature adaptation of late ’70s Mego/Takara toys spaceman line Micronauts will blast off on Oct. 16, 2020. The toyline was centered around robotic/human future men, and the playsets were elaborate with various easy-to-assemble parts.

Currently for 2020, both G.I. Joe and Micronauts are the only titles scheduled on their respective release dates.

Dungeons & Dragons will open on July 23, 2021. New Line made a go at a feature version of the popular 1970s/1980s role-playing game 17 years ago making only $33.8M. There was also a Saturday morning CBS animated TV series which ran for 27 episodes from 1983-1985. Currently, it’s the only title on the calendar on that date.

An untitled Hasbro film has also reserved Oct. 1, 2021 on the calendar. No other titles on that date.

For those who cannot wait to see more from the upcoming Studio Series line, which features new toys of characters from all across the Transformers Live Action films, you are in luck. While we had our first really good look at the upcoming voyager Optimus Prime a few days ago, we now have an image of him in his packaging which gives us our best look at him yet. We see from this that it is without a doubt a new mold. This is number 05 in the series and is part of the first wave of voyager figures along with Starscream. The image was found on the Snakas blog.

The packaging also gives us some new info. Firstly, we see the generations logo. This may not mean that they are part of the "Generations" line per se, but more of an indicator as to the type of toy it is. That was previously done for the Age of Extinction film, where the toys were labelled as being "Generations" as well. While it might be confusing, it seems Hasbro deems it less confusing than their latest try at differentiating these toys with one steps and the like with their "Premier Edition" branding, which did indeed infer a comparison. So now it's back to "Generations" to let you now you can expect the same type of complexity.

The other bit of interest comes from the Takara logo on the box. This further solidifies the idea that, as with The Last Knight toyline, the Takara and Hasbro products will be identical for the most part, including the packaging (which Takara would then add a sticker to). This was originally hinted at by the lower Japanese prices we saw for this line compared to other Takara Transformers products. The prices for this line in Japan was the same for the Transformers: The Last Knight Toyline.

So seeing this trend of Takara and Hasbro releasing the very same products in both their markets, how do you feel? Does this further contribute to the notion that both companies truly feel the extra sales from collectors importing (either Japanese fans importing Hasbro or westerners importing Takara) toys from outside their market are not substantial compared to the savings of standardized toys and packaging? Or do both companies simply focus on their own markets without giving a thought to any activity happening outside it, be it beneficial or not?
