Michael Bay is currently in the limelight again and on a media tour, promoting his new movie Ambulance. The publication Unliad had an interview with him where they asked about his past with the Transformers franchise. Here is what he says, regarding how monumental the first one was for special effects along with the advice Spielberg gave him, which he did not take.

Looking back, he said: "The first one was scary. It was technology we didn’t know would work, and then it became very successful. It was the first time digital effects were that highly reflective, so it broke a lot of new ground."

"It was a fun experience. It made more than [$709 million], that’s a lot of movie tickets and a lot of people that have seen it."

"I made too many of them. Steven Spielberg said, ‘Just stop at three’. And I said I’d stop. The studio begged me to do a fourth, and then that made a billion too. And then I said I’m gonna stop here. And they begged me again. I should have stopped. They were fun to do."

That's not to say Bay didn't give each sequel his all. "I’m passionate about any movie I do, from Pain & Gain to 13 Hours. I like going from big to small, you want to move off the same thing," he said.

Hasbro held a retailer and investor event to show what was coming up in the next 2 years and highlighted the upcoming Transformers Rise of the Beasts film. For Rise of the Beasts, they gave us a title card which features Inca styled carvings of Predacons and Maximals in their beast modes. We can see Optimus Primal, Dinobot, Scorponok, Terrorsaur, Cheetor, Airazor, one of the Spider bots, Rattrap and even Megatron in a fetal position at the very bottom of the circle where all these beasts are carved. At the far right and left we have profiles of Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal though these are of their WFC looks and not their movie look. That last part should remind everyone that this poster is not indicative of anything other than Hasbro wanting a nice backdrop to the logo which combines the themes of Cybertronians coming in contact with ancient civilizations, which has been an ongoing theme in the live action films. We still do not know if the Predacons will actually be in the film as substantial characters or merely a mention, like a wall carving. Hasbro also confirmed the release date being the June 9th 2023 and that it is a sequel to the Bumblebee movie. Here is exactly what was said by Jenny Whitlock, VP of Global Franchises at Hasbro:

“We’re partnering with eOne, Paramount, and a visionary new director to bring to life a Transformers story like you’ve never seen. The film will pick up after the events of 2018’s Bumblebee and follows Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and an unlikely team of humans who are joined by a group of powerful new allies; the Transformers Beasts. The introduction of beast characters will be a significant moment for all. From kids to core fans, and especially those who grew up with Beast Wars in the 90s. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts raises the stakes and set us up for what’s to come over the next few years in our film franchise.”

Amazon.com Currently has most of the new wave available in stock, including the deluxe class Brawn, Wheeljack, and Ratchet, as well as the core class Shockwave and Ravage. New Studio Series Deluxe Toys Found at Target in US

We have an image of the new Studio Series deluxe toys hitting the shelves at Target. This is the wave with Bumblebee Movie Brawn, Ratchet, Wheeljack and SS86 Perceptor. The sighting comes from Transformers fan TickTockGoesTheClock who posted it here. Other fans have also reported finding it at Target. The photo below comes from a Target south of Indianapolis.

This makes the first wave of 2022 Studio Series toys now fully found in the US.

We now have in hand images of two of the upcoming deluxes in the second wave of 2022 deluxe toys for the Studio Series line, Bumblebee movie Arcee and Ironhide. These in hand images show us that the only thing new with Ironhide is the head, as assumed. We get nice close ups of Arcee as well and a good look at her back, which is a thing of concern to fans. These images are taken from reviews done by Chefatron.

Newly Revealed Cyberverse Toy has a Live Action Movie Optimus Prime Robot Mode

This is a really odd reveal, for many reasons. Firstly, it's a reveal for the Cyberverse line, a line which seemed done. Especially with a new kids show already revealed that will have its own toyline. Also, we don't usually get reveals for this line, since it's not made for fans (and there's no preorder for these). And lastly, the big one, this doesn't look at all like Cyberverse Optimus Prime. Optimus in Cyberverse has the evergreen design which we have seen for years now and which we will keep seeing, like in the upcoming Earthspark cartoon. This Optimus Prime, in robot mode, looks exactly like the recent live action Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee movie (and supposedly the Rise of the Beasts Movie too). Look at the arms, the chest, it's that BB Movie Prime. So, it begs the question, is this actually our first look at a toy from the Rise of the Beasts line, but in Cyberverse packaging. Is this the tactic Hasbro will use to release these already produced toys which are supposed to be out soon? Or will the ROTB toys still come out this year in ROTB packaging and this is just an extra toy for another line. No answers, only questions for now. That alt mode is also odd, since it resembles the one Optimus had in Beast Hunters, while also looking a bit like Legacy Bulkhead's, which supposedly will also be made into an Optimus Prime toy.

We do have some more details about this specific toy. It is 9-inches, so a pretty good size, and it transforms from truck to bot by smashing it on the floor, a tactic used in Age of Extinction toys as well. It will retail for $31.49 when it hits retailers in October.

Paramount Advertises Rise of the Beasts as the Beginning of a New Trilogy and Provides Media Update

Today is a busy day! Following up on the first tease for the upcoming Nickelodeon cartoon Transformers: Earthspark, Paramount has thought fit to provide a small update on the big screen area of the Transformers fiction arena.

First up, Paramount writes the following when it comes to Transformers Rise of the Beasts :

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released theatrically in 2023 and is the first of three new installments.

What this will mean for the story within those movies is unknown, but it is nice to know there appears to be a long term plan.

Second, Paramount cross-advertised the Nickelodeon cartoon, which is set to premier later in 2023.

Finally, Paramount has advised that a CG Animated Transformers film is still on the docket for 2024. While we get no further details on that movie, it is nice to know they are keeping us posted that it is coming.

Transformers Premium Finish Live Action Optimus Prime Revealed

Thanks to Dengeki Hobby, we have our next reveal for the Premium Finish line, Transformers 2007 Optimus Prime! Optimus Prime, in a surprise twist, is a repaint of the SS-05 mold, the original Revenge of the Fallen figure that came with the pair of swords, instead of the later SS-32 figure which featured a more accurate chest and the ability to combine with Jetfire. This figure has been decked out in an incredible movie accurate paint job, and includes a pair of blasters that came with SS-32 and the swords that came with the original SS-05.

Sadly, as previously mentioned, as this figure uses the first Studio Series Optimus Prime tooling, he cannot combine with Jetfire or the Dark of the Moon trailer in robot mode, which is a shame as Jetfire is rumored to also be in the Premium Finish line.

With this reveal, Japanese importers have started to list the figure for a price of 6,380 yen (roughly $55 USD) with a late July 2022 release date.
