Variety is reporting that a date has been set for the first official footage from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the anticipated sequel to 2007's Transformers movie. It appears as though fans will get their first glimpse of the film during this year's Superbowl on sunday, February 1st 2009.
News also broke today of the release of the film's teaser poster, which you can see
here.

Nearly every studio will push pics during the big game, airing on NBC Feb. 1, with the movie lineup naturally made up of summer tentpoles whose studios hope to appeal to the nearly 100 U.S. million viewers that tune in to the broadcast.
Confirmed for this year’s roster are high-profile titles like Paramount’s "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Star Trek" and "G.I. Joe"; Sony’s "Angels and Demons"; DreamWorks Animation’s "Monsters vs. Aliens"; and Universal’s "Land of the Lost" and its fourth installment in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise. Disney is also planning to use the game to raise the profile for Pixar’s next toon, "Up," while a "Wolverine" spot is likely from Fox.

A new image has surfaced of a bag of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie tie-in M&Ms, which were reported some time ago as part of the film's
food tie-in marketing strategy. The image is of interest mostly because it gives us a hint at what the "Twins" characters, one who transforms into a green Chevrolet Beat and another who turns into a red Chevrolet Trax, may look like.
The design elements of the red "Tracks" M&M resemble the small piece of concept art that was leaked some time ago and the design of the green "Beat" character (rumoured to be named Skids, based on the vehicle's license plate seen in spy photos from filming) matches the Trax robot (perceptive fans may notice the buck-teeth)
The bag is labelled "collector's pack 7 of 7" - meaning other bags of M&Ms probably sport other M&M-style movie characters.

NBC's Today Show- With temperatures expected to be in the single digits next week, snow and sleet squalls, and of course, another football playoff season without the Detroit Lions in them, Michiganders know it is January in Michigan, and with this time of year comes the Detroit Auto Show.
Known for showcasing and previewing many new model year cars, as well as concept cars from all the different car companies, the
Detroit Auto Show (also known as the NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW) suddenly becomes very relevant to Transformer's fans because of Michael Bay's insistence on cars that are cutting edge for his movies, and his close ties with GM.
Car enthusiast website,
Jalopnik.com, reports that this morning on the Today Show, host Matt Lauer broadcast from Detroit at General Motor's Warren Tech Center where Lauer teased the Chevy Beat would be making an appearance at the N.A.I.A.S. in Detroit next week.
The Chevy Beat, based on leaked photographs and footage from sets, will also be making an appearance in the Transformers movie sequel due out this summer as an Autobot named Skids! While not the exact same as the production model that will be shown on at the show this week, it is a good opportunity for Michiganders (and visitors to Michigan) to see the Beat up close.
You can view video of Lauer revealing the Beat on this morning's Today Show
here.
Open to the public the 17th through the 25th of January, this should be a nice opportunity for some of our community members.

Seibertron.com user PK Strom has emailed us a link to an eBay auction for a new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen poster. Though many fakes have been floating around recently, any fan with a good eye will be able to confirm its authenticity, as the production quality of the image is too great to be anything fan made, and the image bears a striking resemblance to the eyes on the cards of the Revenge of the Fallen
toy packaging as well as the designs seen on a few
ROTF comics. The timing is also right, as Michael Bay said a teaser poster would be released sometime after the new year.
