Universal Studios Hollywood Celebrates Lunar New Year from January 30 - February 14 featuring Special "Year of the Monkey" Festivities, Asian-Inspired Food, and a Mandarin-Speaking MEGATRON Character from the Park's "Transformers: The Ride-3D" Thrill Ride
Special Shenzhen Performances Will Take Place on Saturday, February 13
Universal City, CA, January 25, 2016 - Universal Studios Hollywood marks Lunar New Year and the "Year of the Monkey" with a traditional celebratory event featuring Shenzhen performances, Asian-inspired food, thematic décor and a special Mandarin-speaking MEGATRON character from the park's popular thrill ride, "Transformers: The Ride-3D." The special Lunar New Year celebration begins on Saturday, January 30 and continues through Sunday, February 14, 2016.
Lunar New Year comes to life within Universal Plaza, a grand courtyard situated at the heart of the theme park, where guests will be ushered in to celebrate the "Year of the Monkey" under a curtain of customary red Chinese lanterns and a stunning plum blossom arch. The polygon-shaped piazza will also display a dozen lampposts each featuring banners of the twelve zodiac animal signs along with three symbolic attributes.
A highlight of the time-honored tradition will feature the annual appearance of a Mandarin-speaking MEGATRON who will engage guests in conversation characteristic of his DECEPTICON TRANSFORMER's persona. MEGATRON - an ominous 12-foot-tall figure - is one of the stars of Universal Studios Hollywood's award-winning thrill ride, "Transformers: The Ride-3D" designed to immerse guests in the 3D action-packed robotic world of the TRANSFORMERS.
Unique to this year's Lunar New Year celebration, Universal Studios Hollywood will welcome an exciting Shenzhen performance. "The Five Continents Arts Troupe" from Shenzhen, China entertainment will take place periodically throughout the afternoon for one day only on Saturday, February 13.
In honor of this multi-cultural celebration, favorite Universal character, Curious George will dress in festive attire to meet guests and take photos in front of a traditional Chinese gong. Asian-inspired treats along with customary music resonating throughout the Plaza will help commemorate another memorable Lunar New Year.
Year-round, Universal Studios Hollywood's signature Studio Tour offers guests a revealing look at an authentic movie and television studio in select languages, including Mandarin. Expertly-trained Mandarin-speaking guides provide insight into the world of movie-making magic as guests enjoy a front row seat and behind-the-scenes access to one of the largest film studios in the world. The theme park also provides in-language park maps.
Lunar New Year is included in the price of admission to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Via a number of sources across the internet, but converging to an interview that director Michael Bay (and John Krasinski) sat through with Dean Richards of WGN Radio, we have news that the new instalment in the Paramount Transformers live-action movie series will see a return to Chicago during the filming process. While they don't mention too much, Bay did say:
he plans to be back in Chicago sometime later this year. The film is scheduled for a 2017 release, with plans already in the works for two more "Transformers" movies after that. Billion-dollar revenues will do that.
"You going to blow up Michigan Avenue again?" Richards asks Bay in his interview (at the 5:40 mark). "No, we're gonna find a new street," Bay said. "But I love Chicago." And then, referring to some of the city's systemic problems, including gun violence, added dryly: "We'll come in with some Transformers to even it out."
Check out the full interview - which is about 13 Hours - here.
In a recent Collider interview with Michael Bay on his new film 13 Hours, Steve Weintraub was able to sneak in a few questions about Bay's involvement with any future Transformers films. The full interview can be viewed here.
There are three talking points to add a little fuel to the rumor fires:
According to Bay his writers
...did a really good job of going back in time and connecting things in history and how it relates to different spinoffs...
Bay continued to say, presumably about Transformers 5
...I guess this will be my last one...
And when Weintraub probed Bay for additional info, he received the following statement
...I can't tease SHIZZLESNIT ...

Michael Bay talked about Transformers 5 during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine regarding his film 13 Hours (about Benghazi). During this talk, he does confirm that he is "doing" Transformers 5, as Mark Walhberg had speculated. The context of these quotes below is Michael Bay revising various special effects done by the ILM team while being interviewed by Rolling Stone :
Between his producing duties and directorial work, Bay usually has a half-dozen projects going at once. Right now, in addition to 13 Hours, he's doing post-production on the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which he's producing and which is due in 2016, and pre-production for the next Transformers, which he's directing for summer 2017. "I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it?" Bay says, temporarily losing track. He shakes his head. "I've taken on a lot of work."
Finally, there's Transformers. They show Bay an underwater rendering of a crash-landed alien spaceship, then a new dump-truck Transformer with a cloak. Neither are up to snuff. "Boy, I've got a lot of work to do," Bay says, shaking his head. "I better finish this fucking 13 Hours movie." He thanks ILM and kills the video link, then turns to me. "It's not good when I'm not involved."
"The movie industry has really changed," Bay says, apropos of nothing. "The middle-[budget] movie is basically gone. They just want these big movies." (The irony of this statement goes unremarked-upon.) "Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else."
I remind Bay that he said the same thing before each of the last two Transformers movies. "I know," he says. "J.J. [Abrams] told me, 'You're the only guy that could do this.' But it's time to move on. One more."
